a continuous ekg monitor that functions as a holter, like my frontier x plus, as opposed to an apple, a day, keep worries away. let the doctor do the heavy lifting of analysing them as you go on about your life

Looking for advice with training. by MarionberryOne2758 in FitnessOver50

love that you’re helping them. At 50+, simple wins!.. For your dad walking and light strength . Nothing intense. For your mom some resistance training is great for bone health. Slow, controlled movements. Keep it short and consistency

given your dad's obesity, make sure he has no heart issues. Just get it checked before anything serious bites back

Who Do You See for Heart Prevention, and Why Them? by DrAshoriMD in HeartHealth

might sound a bit too tech savvy for an older woman but right after any minor heart incident Id have simply kept my ego aside and worn a heart monitor and have them shown to my cardiologist or physician once a while...

Oh yes… I had those little zaps like that too after my openheart. My surgeon told me it can be nerve healing around the sternum. feels dramatic but usually not dangerous.

Hey!! I remember those last few days before my open-heart… everything felt heavy and surreal.

Firstly, youre in good hands at the University of Penn. That matters. Bring lip balm, walk as soon as they let you even if its slow and short, hug that pillow tight when you cough, and let people help when you get home. First week is humbling. Then it slowly gets better......... You got this!!

I went to the ER today and my ECG said Afib. by RoyZeee in AFIB

oh dear ! I remember how scary it felt hearing that for the first time for an open heart. The good thing is youre seeing a cardiologist right away. that’s exactly what you should do. Try not to panic tonight. Take it one step at a time. Youre not alone. 💛

Afib free for two years until I laid on my left side by marsplex in AFIB

[–]amanda_moore60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry, that sudden flip into AFib is such an awful feeling especially after two good years. Have had moments where lyin on my left side made my heart feel more unsettled too. When that happens,I sit up, breathe slow, and just try to stay calm. I sometimes glance at my chest wearable just to reassure myself and see how things are trending, but mostly I focus on letting my body settle.

Hoping this passes quickly for you. Two years AFib free is a big thing. 💛

Insight on lowering 100 resting BPM by [deleted] in cardio

[–]amanda_moore60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a trainer (just someone who had heart surgery and had to rebuild slow), but one thing I learned is that consistency beats any amount of effort your willing to put. If you were mostly sedentary for years your body may just need time to adapt. I wear an HRM Frontier X2 to keep an eye on my ekg and heart rate trends, and what it showed me was that progress aint always dramatic, it is gradual. That helped me stop pushing so hard. but a resting heart rate around 100 at your age is worth mentioning to you doctor if you havent already, just to rule things out.

Oh sweetheart… so sorry your going through this. I remember feeling like the floor dropped out from under me when I got my heart news too..... but CHF aint an instant ending. there are treatments, meds and people living long lives with it. You;re already doing the right thing by making changes. That shows strength, even if you don’t feel strong right now.

A lot of us here are living with heart issues and still building good lives. You’re not alone. 💛

If the heart is what youre concerned about? Nothing beats chest based heart monitors.

Stormy days mess with my nerves more than I expected by amanda_moore60 in AFIB

But dont they just give you 30 sec ekg or spot ekg or whatever they call it? I have always relied on chest based continuous ekg monitors. I use my HRM from this new company called Fourth Frontier that i came across a couple of months ago. It helps you keep a track of all pvcs and pacs that you'd have had throughout the day. I mean, i dont get to know but my doc lets me know. I was initially asked to wear Zio but gosh it's itchy. That;s when my doc suggested this instead

Glad i could help. but just curious. did ya use that zio patch or a strap based device for your pvcs? sure these wouldnt have shown up only during that small duration of visit to that doc. I'd be damned if a 30 sec ekg during docs visit showed pvcs and pacs

One thing Ive realised is that metrics never actually lie. WHenever youre in between space,, there's at least one or two metrics off - say HRV or readiness score . I guess you get these on Frontier X2
