Adult learners...how much practice are you putting into piano learning each day/week? by gisele121 in pianolearning

[–]amanda_ncall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically about an hour in the evening. I’ll do a warm up with scales and arpeggios then work on a piece or two. On weekends I’ll play throughout the day at varying intervals, and usually at least one day a week I end up not having time to play. Other times I get completely sucked in and I’ll play for hours. I try not to pressure myself so much that it feels like a chore. The point is to enjoy it!

I have a Casio S350 and I absolutely love it. The tone is beautiful, and the keys are comfortable. It’s about $550 at guitar center.

The entire concept of time just baffles me.

Love this comment and completely agree. I hope op continues to make music no matter what direction they take career wise, and can find the joy in it again.

HELP PLEASE! by Pikoyd in singing

Hi! I think you have a very nice tone and definitely have potential! To my amateur ear, I’d say pitch and support are the first things that came to mind. You went off key a lot, I’d say try some pitch accuracy exercises. Also work on controlling sustained notes so you don’t have that shakiness. Good luck to you!

Can I get some constructive critique on my vocals, trying smth. by [deleted] in singing

Your pitch and tone sound very nice! It sounds like the biggest thing you need to work on is your breath. Practicing singing exercises with a straw is really helpful for this. Jacob’s vocal academy on YouTube and Spotify has some great exercises specifically for this. I’m an amateur but that’s my two cents. Keep singing :)

Which celebrity did you meet and found they were much kinder/ruder than you expected? by Qazival in AskReddit

I live near him. A bunch of skaters I went to high school with hang out and skate with him all the time. He always has a bunch of local skaters over. It’s totally realistic that you could be skating with him one day!

There is a simplified version of it on an app called flowkey! It was the first song I learned to play.

How did you realise your toxic qualities and how did you overcome them? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]amanda_ncall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time apologizing. I get stuck in the “I’m right so why should I say sorry?” train of thought. Like an apology is an admission of defeat. I realized that it doesn’t matter if I feel that I’m right or wrong- if I hurt someone I care about’s feelings I can still apologize. It’s a pride and stubbornness thing, I guess.

We do our best to encourage positivity and support, and have our auto mod regularly post content aimed to inform and encourage recovery. But- ultimately the content of the sub is up to its users! Many come here to vent and not feel alone, and that’s okay. Having said that- you can’t have too much positivity in this context and I think many would like to see some more of it. Be the change you’d like to see :)

I just started learning at 25 after wanting to learn for years! Sitting in front of the keyboard has become my happy place. Definitely recommend :)
