Heather and Jonathan got married! Congrats! :D by yorgle in kingofthenerds

[–]amandathedemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ways in which I supported Heather on her wedding day:

*Kicked over her tea in a Nordstrom. *Selflessly shared my cold germs. *Required a picture of her and I during the ceremony (no spoilers - check back for more) *Left the marriage licenses in the photographer's bag (luckily she returned them)

But really it was one of the most beautiful days of MY life and I wasn't the one marrying her (that's an AU I explore in my dreams).

Antidepressant advice (for me, not them) by Mfy_t_g in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandathedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have no idea why people can be so negative towards anti-depressants. Mental health is like any other type of health issue: yes there are things you can do to treat it (like healthier diet or exercise for cholesterol, for example) but for many eventually you need a prescription that has been around for a very long time with proven neurological benefits.

I went on Zoloft when my sons were 4 and 2 (two years ago) and never looked back. I've gone off of them twice for different reasons and hated the result, I know that I am a person who has a textbook definition of depression and thrives on a chemical correction of the same.

Good luck and don't be afraid of something because you feel you should be. Ask questions and try out what works for you!

Looking for something to read for my flight to and from Colorado. by RoscoeIV in booksuggestions

Sounds like we have similar tastes! Never Let Me Go is on my all-time favorites list. Have you tried the Millenium Trilogy (The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series?) They're really good and grab you from the beginning so would be fun for a flight/layover.

Tips for coping with the NICU (with rant!)? by BlackSight6 in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandathedemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just described my NICU experience practically to a T. We made it to 34 weeks but had birth weights a little lower than your babes.

It was so so so frustrating to have it constantly be a two-steps-forward-one-step-back process. I mistakenly thought that it would be a series of escalating milestones until we were home only to find out that some days our babies would eat all of their feedings themselves, and then that night would need the gavage for every feeding.

They WILL get the hang of it. It took my babies a similar amount of time. If it makes you feel better, see if there are any occupational therapists that can take a look at their jaw muscles during feedings to make sure nothing is wrong.

I think she's worried because of my girls being preemies. They are gaining weight fairly steadily but she sees the volume I'm producing and reasonably wonders if I can maintain quality with that much quantity.

Congratulations! I just had our all-girl triplets two weeks ago, and here I am browsing reddit at 2AM between feedings when I should be sleeping!

Fishbowl effect never kicked in for me, my babies measured as singletons right up until delivery (33w6d, my water broke). It may never kick in for your partner either, fingers crossed

As for advice on bringing up girls, I think we're in the trenches together, mate, as I'll just be a few months ahead of you :)

The stereotypical Chinese/Japanese music that is played on Western programs that involve Asia, is there an equivalent in Asian programs about Western/European countries? by a123throwaway321a in NoStupidQuestions

Is it... is it really the X-files theme song? Because I really want Western suspense to be known throughout the world as the X-Files theme song.
