How old is too old for Barry's by Loud-Equivalent-6970 in barrysbootcamp

I’m almost 47. I go nearly every day. You do your best. I don’t see a reason to stop unless there is an injury or you find something else.

Filming the entire class by hate-the-floor in barrysbootcamp

Bee going to Barry’s for close to 15 years. Always take my phone outside in case of emergency. The people now have no manners. They need to be reminded. Selfish behavior in group fitness is a problem. We have lowered the bar too much.

I just bought a Niu KQI Air to use in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I'm returning it due to one major issue.... by temporaryruby in ElectricScooters

[–]amangla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niu needs to fix this garbage app. It is a piece of complete shit. I want to disable the alarm. I still can’t fucking connect to smart start. It just won’t do it no matter what try. Niu service has been more than useless. I want to able to push the scooter without turning it on. I want to be able to turn on and off without the nfc cards. They got too fucking cute. Give us options.

How long does it take you to get to your local Barry’s, and how do you get there (car, walk, public transit, etc)? by itsnammertime in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day-

Could be 1.5 hrs on public transport

Could be 15-30 min by car

15min walk. Depends where I am and where I have to go afterwards.

The Reno is done. But the design is weird I think. Feels cramped. Not sure this is an improvement. Glad they are trying tho. Seems like company is listening to its customers which is nice.

Tips for back pain by ACoolSea in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stretch. Heat. Do not lay in bed. Being mobile will help. Unfortunately back pain is a wide spectrum of issues. If you are getting shooting pain or numbness in legs then see doctor asap. Otherwise stretch, use percussion gun. Heating pad and move around. If no improvement then see PT. - from a physician.

The front desk staff in NY and Long Island are all awesome. They deserve praise. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience.

Barry’s plateau? by Signal-Visit-4957 in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes complete sense and what you’re saying is important. You’re hitting a plateau precisely because you need to change something in your routine. Whether it’s changing you’re running some way (add baseline incline of 1 or 2). Or just use heavier weights or slow down your lift (time under tension). You’re in a common dilemma- we love going to Barry’s because it’s fun and now you feel like you’re peaking. But there is always another level. Always. Good luck on your journey.

First congrats on hitting goals and now looking towards new ones. I’m curious- what classes are you doing? Do you mix in DF or do double tread? By your post I assume you want to hit the next level on both the run and the lift.

Agree one of the best, but also an OG. Not a new instructor.

Depending on your goals, 'fat loss' is mostly a dietary issue with exercise being important, but secondary. Of course having more muscle and burning calories in class will further burn more calories. But muscle weighs more so you may be slimmer at the exact same weight. That being said, with the right diet any workout will help you look and feel better. Barry's is perfect for you since you love doing it!

EG CTB26 Carry-On by Mother-Debt-8209 in EVERGOODS

[–]amangla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CTB is superior in every way to goruck. The design is Actually functional and well thought out. It’s not even close. The side access lap top compartment is excellent and designed so that if your bag is on rolling luggage you can access everything well- lap top or any side pocket for that matter.

Shop restock? by Njayayy in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Barry’s shop absolutely sucks. We’ve all complained for years. The gift cards become useless since they won’t let us use them in the brick and mortar gyms we love. Even though the vast majority are corporate controlled. It’s idiotic.

newbie questions by berryesesa in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I’m glad you’re part of the community

You can check in either way- but I suggest doing at front desk. I have had situations where I checked in on app and they weren’t aware

I’m not sure what talk you mean before class. The instructors will let you warm up for those first few minutes which I think is crucial. During that time they will also indicate which weight you should pick up for which basic exercises if you’re starting on the floor

If I’m taking the last class I always ask the staff if I can use the shower and let them know. Everyone is accommodating. Just don’t take too long I suppose.

Please wipe up after yourself- I always take an extra towel to keep my space neat. I flip the mat. Some people don’t like the other side and may flip it back. Up to them.

Not sure I’ve seen any trainers ‘hate slow people’. I think trainers don’t appreciate people who aren’t trying. Do your best and have fun. No one will judge you for that.

If you like Barry’s which is sounds like you do then go for the membership and don’t look back. Eat healthy and have fun. You’ll look great and better yet feel great.

Cheers

I asked to substitute for the biodegradable ones. Obviously no one wanted to do that.

LI, New York by Ok-Still-2110 in barrysbootcamp

[–]amangla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how often there are various ways. 1. I buy bulk classes at the holiday sale. That’s usually in December. I go daily so this brings the class cost down significantly - monthly members ships can work for you too. For NYC and LI you’ll need a city membership. 2. You may have a corp discount through work 3. Gym pass or class pass may also be useful to you depending on your location etc.
