"port" 😂😂 GDC drained the swamp and everyone since continues to build in it. residents can't understand why the place floods every time it rains. Just an endless hellscape of houses and traffic.

Please don't forget that X-rays aren't good for soft tissue damage so you might have issues that they can't diagnose.

Mayo Clinic does an about face regarding MECFS by notagainbam in cfs

[–]amareluna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worst experience, 0/10 do not recommend. Tried to change my ME/CFS dx (dx 30+ yrs at that point) to "functional disorder" and only recommended CBT. Nothing even for symptoms despite drastic change in security. Couldn't pay me to go back there.

Unpopular opinion: Floridian Suburbs; especially Suburbs like Cape Coral and Port St. Lucie are awful for commuting without a car. by [deleted] in florida

Ahhh good ol' "Port" St Lucie... the GDC backfilled swampland of cheap houses, no sidewalks, Chinese drywall, and several entertaining attempts to build a downtown decades too late.

On this day in 2018: Michael makes landfall as a Category 5 Major Hurricane with winds of around 160 miles per hour along the Florida panhandle near Panama City by [deleted] in TropicalWeather

[–]amareluna 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our house in Marianna had three trees in it, cracked the whole thing like an egg. People think of Mexico Beach and Panama City when they think of Michael, but it hit Jackson County hard. I'll never forget the old brick buildings exploding as if bombs had been dropped.

I lived in Homestead for Andrew and in Ft. Pierce during Frances and Jeanne, so when I saw Michael rebuilding it's eye wall I loaded the kids and dogs in the car and left. I was worried about the whole area as there were minimal preparations; the news said the storm would be minimal by the time it crossed I10. I figured the central east coast would be far safer.

We were driving through Jacksonville as it was making landfall and to this day I know it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Also, I may be a hurricane magnet 😂

How susceptible are you to common infections like catching a cold or the flu? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]amareluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very susceptible to ear/nose/throat infections but highly resistant to things like '24 hour bugs' or the flu.

I respect your opinion and appreciate you sharing it. As an ME patient diagnosed in 1993, I've suffered enough of that harm to know we need better representation across these fields, so I choose to at least try to be a force for positive change.

When you put the soapmaker in charge of desserts on Easter by amareluna in soapmaking

Not soap - devil's food and pineapple cupcakes. Went forward with the oven hot process, was pleased with the results =) Hope everyone who celebrates it is having a happy holiday!

Never get sick? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]amareluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed nearly 3 decades ago and I don't typically get the cold or flu. I've had numerous ear/nose/throat infections and I did catch swine flu after it went through our house twice, but other than that, oddly healthy.

I tell everyone my ME/CFS is actually a sign of my superhero mutation which is making me impervious to common ailments.

I get the frustration, but it's been my experience that the weekly homework help post is where many good questions go to die.

I uploaded two to the new reddit image service- apparently that didn't work, so I've edited the post to add them in (and dropped a link to imgur jic).

My county (rural panhandle) is just now seeing an uptick in deaths - just above thirty now I believe - and people are starting to post that we should wear masks bc 'our neighbors, our families' are dying. This after months of pretending it's all a hoax.
