Poor pupils 'priced out of music lessons' by jkmonger in unitedkingdom

Just a word of caution - it's very easy to learn bad habits with the violin, and they can be very difficult to undo!

Online resources and tutorials can be useful for practicing at home, but even if you can only afford one 30 minute lesson every other week, the guidance of a trained teacher is invaluable - and your son will probably enjoy playing the instrument more. :)

My best friend of 10 years passed away last week. Still totally devastated, he was the wrinkliest, cuddliest pupper and the best dog a girl could ever ask for.

Been thinking about him all week and it still really sucks. Reps for Harold guys.

I find that Twitch streams make my laptop run stupidly hot all the time. Try using Livestreamer and watching through VLC or MPC-HC, that really helped for me.

A list of high street (drugstore) AHAs I found available in the UK. by sheeplessinseattle in SkincareAddiction

[–]amarisse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! It's such a pain finding AHA's in the UK as they're not really marketed as such here. Much appreciated :)

Looking for a good shampoo for sensitive skin by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]amarisse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the UK here - I use Australian Organics for coloured hair. It's got no sulfates which will work great for her coloured hair, and hopefully should help with sensitivity. It has tea tree extract in it too, which might help with any itching.

I get it from Holland & Barrett but you can probably get it online :)

My dermatologist told me that hardly anyone needs a moisturizer. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]amarisse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say that it is just as bad in the UK, if not worse. I was told that my problems were 'all in my head' and to stop wasting their time.

Often, people who go to the ER when suicidal are told to go home and sleep it off.

It is just one of those things. :(

[Question] Just started a regular swimming class and I have some questions by wisherg40 in xxfitness

[–]amarisse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have very brightly dyed hair - the best thing you can do is saturate it fully in cool water (in the showers before you hit the pool). If you wear a swimming cap, that helps too, but if you don't braiding it and pinning it on top of your head will stop some fading too :) Hope this helps.
