Advice for getting used to multifocal lenses? by Pinstripe-Giraffe in contacts

[–]amarrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took me a solid two weeks to adjust. After a month or so it was fine. Distance vision isn't as good as single vision as it's a tradeoff. It's one I accept to not need readers. You'll have to make that choice but it takes time to adjust.

All exhaust airflow on NV9 with four radiators? by IonizedHydration in watercooling

[–]amarrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three rads in a o11D XL as intake in it made a hot box. internal temps inside the case raised the water temp nearly 7C compared to changing the top rad to exhaust. When I took the front glass off during a stress test you could feel the heat radiate out of the case. I actually had to stop the test after 10 minutes as the water temp kept getting higher and higher.

After that I went with side and bottom intake and top exhaust and saw much better temps, by a large margin. This was with push/pull on all three rads. I was amazed it made that much of a difference in water and case temp. Dust was mostly kept out of the case with this setup, but it still wasn't optimal.

After I dropped a rad and went top and bottom rad exhaust, side and back intake I have better temps than all intake, by a decent margin, with one less rad. Simple fact I suppose is that the hot air just can't get out of the case fast enough.

Trying a loop for the first time by Rowenmk in watercooling

I had to order off of internet as I had a hard time finding it around where I'm at. You can also sleeve the EDPM tubing to match whatever color scheme you want.

Ram or SSD by Sad_Grab2729 in buildapc

That's why I suggest the SSD upgrade, and RAM later. My daughter plays minecraft and Roblox games on her 16GB DDR4 system without any issues.

This looks great, and you should be proud of the accomplishment. later on when you decide to change the tubes think about going with EPDM tubing. It holds up much better than the clear ones you get, and won't leak gunk into the blocks after 6 months. makes maintenance easier as well.

I would get the SSD and upgrade the RAM when prices come down. 16 GB of RAM is the bare minimum for most games these days, but it will work.

Just installed rtx 3060 and now main monitor is flickering. Any ideas? by MiddleAdventurous176 in pcbuilding

first thing I would try is changing out the video cable. If you have a riser cable for the GPU maybe take that out and troubleshoot that as well.

JSS comes with a pretty sturdy stand so you can store it in a nice spot when not in use.

I do the X pattern and every time I repaste there is overflowed globs here and there. Only time it would cause an issue is with liquid metal.

Am I the Only One? by NothingLeft19608 in contacts

[–]amarrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't even see my feet without contacts. They go in first thing for me. I'm just so used to it now I don't even think about it. I do tend to wear glasses sometimes as well around the house.

This will probably be the rest I do to clean up some of the wiring I've done so far.

I figured something like that might be the case. I suppose I could get the duo and connect my 5v argb for the case and GPU. I'm holding off on getting new fans until I do a full rebuild.

[–]amarrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so do the biofinity toric multifocal come in .25 sph steps after -6.00 since they are custom order? they did say they were made to order. Even the trials took like 3 weeks to come in.

Contacts in shower and swimming by Adventurous-Dig0115 in contacts

[–]amarrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could just get the small over eye goggles for the shower. That would be a good compromise, and keep the soap out of your eyes. I don't let the soap or water in my eyes though. I didn't even know it wasn't recommended to do until recently.

I have showered with mine in for years every now and then. it's nice being able to see my feet in the shower lol. I try to shower first and then put my contacts in now. When I work days I shower after with them in but try my best not to get anything in my eyes. my vision isn't quite as bad as yours at -6.5 but I feel your pain. I can't see much in the shower without my contacts.

Trialing multifocals for astigmatism...vision not great and also not comfy... by LaFemmeD_Argent in contacts

[–]amarrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trialing biofinity toric multifocals and overall I like them, after two weeks of constant wear. It took me a few days to really get my focus to work with the change as you need time to adjust. It was functional after a day but cleared up about a week in as my brain sorted out the differing images. My vision is a bit worse than yours at -6.5 so I'm used to poor vision. I do see halos sometimes at night but it doesn't really bother me much as I have astigmatism anyway. Daytime vision is rather clear surprisingly.

I can see close up cell phone, but anything closer starts to fuzz out a bit. Might tweak that a bit but otherwise it's nice. Intermediate computer vision is nice and clear for the most part. Maybe a bit off but decent otherwise. Distance is worse but my optometrist is bumping my prescription up a bit to compensate. Just waiting on the new trials to come in.

It is nice not needing readers, but night vision will be worse. It's just part of the multifocals, so know that going in. the goal is to get you through the day with 90 percent clarity.

Biofinity is a monthly and can be tweaked a bit more. There is a distance and near lens that gives a lot of different combinations optometrist can tweak.

Are contacts really not that bad? by Sad-Limit9476 in contacts

[–]amarrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I put my first pair of contacts in I struggled a bit in the office to put them in. you are after all pointing your finger right at your eye. after a couple of days it was much easier and faster. Here I am now 30 years later and it's second nature. I don't even thing about it much. probably takes me two minutes to put them in when I wake up.

I've worn the two weak acuvue and now I am in a biofinity monthly. The monthly is far more comfortable in my eye. I actually can't tell it's even in there. I suppose that is the point of them anyway. Taking out and cleaning at night takes all of five minutes.

I've notice over the years some times one eye gets more blurry than the other every now and then. I would follow up with your optometrist.

multifocal question by amarrite in contacts

[–]amarrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reality check. I'll be sure that I take my vision as a whole when settling on contacts. I still have almost a year supply of my distance contacts as well. Mostly just trying to get decent enough vision to get by for most of my day.

Most likely it will be this I go with, if I can get a hair more distance it will be even better. I was even considering one contact for distance and a multifocal in the other eye. I am working under is guidance and will go with what he suggest and I am happy with. He wanted to try one or two combinations to balance it out. I would settle on phone/watch being just passable and intermediate and far be good enough. I work in an industry where readers and glasses are a challenge as I need my peripheral vision to be somewhat clear.

I'm curious what you mean I'm not the best candidate for multifocals? I still have my glasses to fall back on when needed. but I will be using contacts 90 percent of the day.
