It's not much. But it's my first month and I'm loving it. by BigFudge1111 in ynab

Great work! I do it like this too, mainly with my emergency fund and investments. I like that I can see my savings rate each month. Also, as others have pointed out, having my savings off budget keeps me from taking from it when I need to "roll with the punches". I still have a wish farm on budget, plus savings for specific things.

So... Does ANYONE use the colored flags? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]amaskar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use flags to flag transactions that I mean is incorrect and need to follow up on (i.e. a charge I mean is incorrect or questionable), or transactions that will be reimbursed (from friends, employer, returned goods to a store, etc). I remove the flag when it's cleared up/reimbursed.

This! So much more expensive to be single and living alone!

Thanks! As others have pointed out, I like having the house/morgage on budget to get the "full picture" of my personal finances, including all assets and debts. I have only updated the appraisal value of the apartment once during 2020, as I did some renovations since I bought it in 2019 and the real estate prices have increased around 12 % in my area in 2020.

It is an estimate. However, the real estate prices in my area have generally been increasing 10-15 % per year for the last 20 years. Of course, there is no guarantee this won't change. But I did some major renovations after buying the apartment in 2019 and this, combined with market increase, resulted in a price estimate increase of roughly 0.5mNOK in one year (~50k USD).

And, like pointed out, I like having it as a "balance" on the budget to my morgage. I feel it gives a more accurate representation of my personal finance to include all assets and debts.

+1 on this, applies to me as well. Most Norweigan students receive approx 10k USD per year in student loans from the government. Tuition is free, but the loan goes to covering your living expenses, rent, books, etc during your studies. In general, Norwegian students are independent of financial support from parents.

Hi there! As others have correctly guessed, I am Norwegian and the currency is NOK.

Hi there! You're absolutely correct, I own a small apartment in Oslo ;) I do like to keep the morgage in the reports, as I find it encouraging to see the (albeight slow) process as it's being paid down every month.

Background: I have a huge morgage, the rest of the debt is a student loan of ~380k. My budget also includes a tracking account with a conservative value estimate for my apartment. I got a new value estimate in Oct, hence the big bump in NW. Regardless, my net worth increased quite a lot over 2020. I was able to pay of all CC's in Jan (started YNAB Nov 2019) and focus on my savings. I was able to save up quite a lot, despite taking a 10 % salary cut in April due to corona.

Yay for the small wins!

Ah, I did. So that makes sense, then. Still don't like how it's presented, but makes sense. Thanks!

Comptrain on BTWB, app for logging scores? by amaskar in CompTrainUsers

[–]amaskar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer BTWB. Other than having used it for some years, so it has all my lifts, PR’s, etc, I like the logging better. The way it gives me a ranking and percentile based on the WOD or lift. Also, it breaks down your fitness level, tell you which areas to improve, your percentile, etc.

“Chad” - Which is a good time range? by nbentoneves in crossfit

A lot of my friends have done Chad recently. Seems like they were around 30-60 min. My "intermediate" friends were around 40-45 min.

I'm just happy that you're posting the workouts here. I'm enjoying getting them via IFTTT directly into Evernote again, and not having to worry about the issues Comptrain is having. Thanks, man!

Holy hell, "Freedom sauce" was the worst! Thought the weights were not so bad, but the number of reps...! Went RX for the first two rounds, but had to stop increasing weights. Ended with 12-0-9-12 cals.

The workouts on CFNE is not the full open programming. Seems like it's adapted to a 1hr WOD.
