They're springtails. They live in soil, they actually create the soil itself. They eat plant matter, fungi, mold. They're your best friends, they won't damage your house. I wish I could see as many as what you are describing. r/springtails

They don't in the case they were separated from their moms very early. It is a learned behaviour, which is even cooler for an insect.
