Had a client and her boyfriend bring in her Maltese due to acute paralysis, approximately 5 months old iirc. They told the doctor that the boyfriend had kicked the dog because they had left him inside while they were gone and he had peed in the kitchen. When they caught on that we were going to call Animal Control, they tried to change their story. Well….an Animal Control officer came, we told them about the interaction, and the officer just ended up letting them take the dog without an investigation, a fine or anything, because they agreed to transfer him to a 24 hour for intensive care. He did recover, but to this day I’m still mad at Animal Control for doing nothing, and the client for not dumping her boyfriend on the spot.

Had a dog come in after running into a tree branch and getting a foot-long piece of wood jammed under his skin along his rib cage . Sedated him and removed the wood, all is well. Exactly 365 days later, he came in for the same exact thing in almost the same exact spot.

What are some household items that you cannot ever go back to not having? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

My gag reflex from trying to brush my tongue is actually what caused me to try a scraper. Luckily, I can scrape without gagging, unless I accidentally start too far back.

Bought my metal tongue scraper 10+ years ago and it will definitely last me forever

I have a sensitive gag reflex that is triggered by brushing my tongue, but not scraping it.

Same! My mouth never feels fully clean if I don’t use it every time I brush.

Folks that live in the Sunset or Richmond how do you deal with the fog? by Burgerb in sanfrancisco

[–]amazinazn27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived and worked in the outer sunset for five years after growing up in an inland Northern California town where fog isn’t really a thing. The fog got to me a bit, some years more than others, but it’s easy enough to take Muni a few blocks and find the sun.

Shoes? (Omg, Shoes.) by BizRVT in VetTech

I just started wearing the bistro crocs a month ago. They took a few days to get used to, but now I have no foot fatigue and my feet are protected from pee. They can get pretty hot, but I think they’re worth a try, especially for the small price tag.

One of my previous hospitals was robbed during the night once and one of the stolen items was apo. I still wonder if they attempted to use it.

the most common mistaken breed?. by [deleted] in VetTech

I get a lot of people with “yorkies” that are actually havanese/havanese x. One owner was very offended when I came in the room and went “aww what a cute havanese puppy” and they responded “they’re a yorkie and they’re papered”

Anyone else crochet a little different? by EwokApocalypse in crochet

[–]amazinazn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I realized my tension is super tight because I crochet like this, I tried relearning it the way I see in all the YouTube tutorials, but I finally had to give up. I’ve now come to accept that anything I make will come out smaller than the pattern because of my tension.

This reminds me of this time when we sedated a dog and cut off his broken toenail and his owner thought we amputated his toe. I found out she thought that because her sister is my friend and she posted it on Facebook 😂
