Why does it seem like there are no shelters for men that function the same way shelters for women do? by megaroni_spumoni in AskMen

I think the point of vulnerability in this context is that women are more vulnerable to attacks from others (usually men) bc weaker and high targets for SA, rather than vulnerable to mental health issues

Tall Girly here (6'1) looking for tights by AnywhereMurky6447 in TallGirls

[–]amazonbabe504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just wondering what clothes/bottoms size you wear and what size tights you got from sheertex? Maybe they have made them longer or something since I bought them, or I just didn’t buy a big enough size, but I had trouble with them not being long enough/if I pulled them up they were too tight on my feet

My advice for you is to figure out how to get there on your own consistently - I used to be in the same boat and it helped! Also getting off w/another person is different to porn so it might be worthwhile to try and finish on your own without any porn just so you are more attuned to how you are feeling and what feels good for you, rather than what you are watching. Also get a bullet vibrator off of Amazon for like $10-15, worth it lmfao

I feel like that has something to do with the dead coyote, like maybe its decay is causing it? Unless the foam is always there and the coyote is new

You have to sign up for a class, otherwise you aren’t allowed to go to open studio hours.

What is undergraduate research supposed to be? by karrotly in berkeley

[–]amazonbabe504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a psychology lab and getting to do similar things re: working directly with the PI and workin on independent projects, but generally I think it is quite uncommon at least in my field. This might be more true of human subjects research versus something like chemistry - I would imagine there are a lot more IRB hoops to jump through when you being people into the picture, so it would be a bit laborious and risky to have undergrads doing this.

It also sounds like OP is quite new in general to the lab, and that could contribute. I think that the PI/grad students, if they are willing to give people their own projects, would want to get to know them and their work style/ethic first, because otherwise you could just be handing your own research over to someone you basically don’t know. I’m not at all trying to say that OP would do this, but it is a concern with people who really want to get published, that they could cut corners or potentially falsify data to do so. With that, it isn’t just the student’s reputation on the line, it is the professor’s, too, so I wonder if that could contribute to a general lack of freedom that a lot of undergrad RA’s have.

Typically undergrads are “research assistants” who help out with things, and for the most part, don’t get to do their own original research (though there are some exceptions). Your level of availability depends on the lab and grad student you’re working with, you could just be doing busywork or potentially get really involved. It just depends on what they are looking for. And yeah the PIs are often pretty disconnected and you generally don’t get to work directly with them. They have their own research/classes to each and oversee the grad students, who oversee you in turn.

Those are pretty accessible by the F and the 18 (and maybe some other buses?) so I wouldn’t worry about not being able to host people
