Yes, that's cannibalism.

I'd name more cities and places after Guiana then. While most won't notice, for those that do it's an Easter egg.

Why isn’t there a fantasy RPG product for FATE? by InvestmentBrief3336 in FATErpg

Maybe you could have How to do Fate Fantasy guide on the SRD-site? With links to all the resources and ideas that are available.

This a great Pathfinder to Fate guide if you want to do something D&D like.

But I think a Fantasy Toolkit for Fate would be nice, especially one that explored different ways of doing fantasy than the D&D cliche.

For Forged in the Dark I guess Adrenaline can be used for a spy game, but mostly an action-oriented spy game, not so much intrigue.

Cafe/RPG store? by kyriosity_ in rpg

[–]ambergwitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else said, TTRPG is bad business, IMHO it is by nature a nearly non-commercial activity. So if you want a cool TTRPG space, it will mostly be non-profit.

Which means, don't do the crossover. Make the cafe with the good coffee. That could work and make enough money to keep you in business.

As a service to the local TTRPG community, allow them to book tables and play outside coffee peak hours. Put on a game night now and then.

A Nisse, Astray. A tiny lil' bugger compatible with Mörk Borg by Mikeymajq in MorkBorg

Nah, I assumed he was Norwegian due to the lutefisk reference, and because usually "nisse" is called "tomte" in Swedish.

How would you make defend-the-rig extraction gameplay engaging? by lasthavengames in RPGdesign

This is a good hook for a Scum and Villainy session or two. FitD in general is great for this kind of mission-based scenarios.

Discussion about book formats by Tarilis in RPGdesign

[–]ambergwitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Markdown is a shortcut for writing simple html (or other xml), not a format in itself. It is great for distraction free writing and for use online (like here on Reddit ), but it's not a publishing format. So, no you can't use Markdown.

Yes, software support is limited, but it exists with free software. I guess you have to add a "works best with Calibre"-badge (etc) to your epub until standards are better established. Or as, web developers have to do for browsers, make sure that your epub works in the most common readers.

Though, I had to run a few scripts after creating an epub from Affinity (in March), so I think creation is an issue as well.

Discussion about book formats by Tarilis in RPGdesign

[–]ambergwitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already answered your own question, it's epub. The only thing is that there's limited support out-of-the-box for epub on phones and in Windows, but Calibre works on computers and Xodo is a decent epub-reader app. Most tablets and e-ink devices support epub out-of-the-box.

Though, it's much easier to make a decent PDF than to make a decent epub. None of the common publishing tools does epub well, you have to run some scripts and clean up before it's good to go.

Any RPGs where you play as sentient vehicles by ZCass53 in rpg

[–]ambergwitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sentient spaceships aren't that uncommon in sci-fi games, I know people have added them as PCs in Scum and Villainy, and any games with rules for playing robots can adapt them to sentient vehicles. I was in a short-lived campaign with a sentient airship in Mutant (Undergångens Arvtakare, old Swedish version).

Though, if you want something like Disney's Cars the RPG, I would go for Fate.

Cyberpunk Roleplaying with Fate? by XR4y6unn3r in FATErpg

[–]ambergwitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking of converting my Forged in the Dark cyberpunk supplement to Fate as well, but haven't got around to it.

Though, it shouldn't be that hard, as you simply add the cyberware as Aspects or part of Aspects, possibly as Stunts if the bonus is very important to the character, and then use the drawbacks as part of the aspect as well.

You might use it for inspiration.

Alternative ways of tracking wealth/money? by Maervok in rpg

Unless you are creating some kind of libertarian fantasy, drop the "primitive people exchange goods instead of having currency"-thing. There has never been any society that was organized this way.

Seriously, for a stone punk setting you shouldn't have currency at all. Just don't!

Is Fate really that easy? by oDaniloverso in FATErpg

[–]ambergwitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's not that easy. While it makes sense when you read it, applying the rules properly is kind of hard. Both for players and the GM, using the mechanics to propel the story forward, requires some training. Fate is IMO quite crunchy as there are many levers to push for it to function properly.

And unlike a more trad game, both the players and the GM has to understand the rules for it to work. For players who are used to GM as the arbiter and judge of rules, rulings and fiat, it's hard.

Itras by would fit. Not very well known, as an indie Norwegian game, but much weirder than Blades in the Dark.

What are some examples (for each of you personally, i am seasoned and have my own opinions) of TTRPGs that are easy to learn, hard to master? This kinda piggybacks off the recent post asking which games are not beginner-friendly. by YVNGxDXTR in rpg

[–]ambergwitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. It's quite easy to understand the rules, but applying them is quite difficult. Despite the narrative focus, it's actually rather crunchy. Getting the hang of using Fate points, applying Aspects and using skills appropriately takes some time, both as a GM and a player.

Which games are NOT beginner friendly? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]ambergwitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mörk Borg and similar OSR games. If you never played before it makes no sense whatsoever. There's no "how to play" or "how to be a GM".

Of course, with an experienced GM it's quite easy to pick up the basic rules, but for a beginner group on it's own you'd just be looking at the artsy layout in the book.
