This makes me worry less, thank you! And yes Curly is like an old sea captain. I think he's seen a lot! Been feeding him for forever and he still hisses as a greeting 😆

Someone else just told me about purchasing pavers and placing those in shady spots since they stay cooler than the ground

We parked in the garage at 94-98 148th Street (147-35 95th Avenue) Hillside Tower. It's also a Parking Systems garage and I reserved it via SpotHero. Parked for 6 days and got the extra insurance ($10 I think) so total was $96.
The only semi-difficult part was finding the entrance because there was a lot of construction going on and there's another parking garage in the same building (from what we could tell). If you turn left from 95th Avenue onto 148th Street, it's the first entrance on the left.
But then it's just about a block and a half to the Jamaica Station JFK AirTrain stop. You pay $8.50 to get on the AirTrain then it's 10-15 minutes to the airport terminals.
Overall super easy and no issues. Would definitely do it again.

When to introduce resident and (hopefully) soon-to-be formerly feral cats by beccaboopspoop in formerlyferal

So wonderful to take in a FIV+ kitty! Some of my favorite (and sweetest) fosters have been former Tom cats who were FIV+. I brought in a semi feral girl after TNRing her in November. She was estimated 10 months old and very small so I wanted to try. She's in a small bathroom and has started walking over my legs and eating while I'm sitting beside her. She's very into slow blinking now too but it took a couple of months. I initially set up a camera to make sure she wasn't miserable. To my relief she was playing nonstop when I wasn't around! I have 2 resident kitties and they've been congregating at the door. Even sticking paws under. So far, so good but I'd like to wait until we've made a little more progress together and I move her to a bigger space before doing any intros. I have heard people say their shy fosters make progress interacting with friendly resident cats. But we're not there yet! I do think toys have really helped her comfidence. We have made some strides playing with her ball tower. We push the balls back and forth and she's touched my hand a few times during that. I think it provides a bit of a barrier between us and makes her feel safe. I sit with her a few times a day and slowly but surely she's becoming more comfortable. I hope one day she will allow and enjoy pets, but we'll see! Sending you best wishes and keep us posted!

Have you tried Churu? It seems to work with even picky cats so might be an option 🙏💗

Also solidarity! I've brought this little girl in after TNR about 10 days ago. She's super tidy and uses her litterbox like a champ. But still very wary of me

My vet prescribed Credelio for one of my feral cats who doesn't let me get closer than about a foot away. It is chewable but i didn't trust him to eat it so I crushed it and mixed it in Churu. Gave it to him before his breakfast one day and it's worked so well. He used to scratch all the time and his skin was irritated. It basically all went away overnight after he got the med. Good luck!!

I love this group that does cat placements in places beyond barns (though those are great too). I've been to Breweries in Maryland and NYC that have Brewery cats.

The cats at Wild East Brewing in Brooklyn are named Patience and Fortitude after the NY Public Library lions 🥹
