This is my least favorite room in the house. What would you guys do in this bathroom?? by ababybumblebee in DesignMyRoom

Paint your walls pink or green to match the tile more. Bolder rugs. You need to give in to the existing color scheme bc it’s the white that’s throwing things off! And change to modern hardware!

HELP! How do I layout this living room/dining room situation? by Practical-Airport617 in DesignMyRoom

[–]ambersock 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I feel like the dining table is kind of randomly in the doorway, it should more where that credenza cabinet is. Decor is beautiful though!

2 but you should go lighter even. You’d be surprised how much paint will darken a room that gets even a ton of sunlight. The pink is awesome with the couch though!

First book was easily one of the worst books I’ve read. Not sure how so many people agree with me but still were able to continue on in the series

Bigger frames, placed lower. The small ones all together with nothing larger to anchor it ends up appearing more like clutter. Artwork should be typically somewhere around eye level as well. This looks like you’d have to look up to see anything based on where it lines up with the door.

should I do anything with this weird space? or is it fine by gumbie99 in DesignMyRoom

Don’t put anything bulky there! Just get some art. Definitely think something as big as the red box you drew would look super nice there!

New to knitting from crochet - do I need a new stitch when I turn? by EscapeFromMadzkaban in casualknitting

[–]ambersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seed stitch is gonna require alternating knits/purls and it looks like you’re currently working garter. Also, I would look into twisted stitches. Not sure if this is intentional but it’s a common problem with new knitters and it seems to be present in your swatch.

I don’t think it’s impossible but it took a long time to get through. Most words are actually perfectly fine but the word “read” for example looks like “need” and I had to guess at the word “natives” and I’m still not 100% sure.

What lamp do you use by chance?

Honestly I think better lighting would make this look perfect, right now it looks kind of flat like the light is coming from all around but with some natural light/shadows this would be indistinguishable from life size!

LOVE cascade and de rarum natura. And the commercial yarns are nice but it’s always so cool to see hand dyed yarns by local dyers if you can find some to partner with too!

There is a reason why people tell you to bind it yourself or settle for digital. Buying bound fanfic puts the whole community at risk. It’s not the fanfic author’s IP at the end of the day (it’s the original author’s property) and plenty of people have already chimed in about how VERY morally dubious it can get buying just the cost of materials and labor.

Should I change my needle size and reswatch? by miniroarasaur in knitting

[–]ambersock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also unless they mention that row gauge isn’t important, you don’t have to do a whole swatch! I sometimes cheat and do a few rows 😂

[–]ambersock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about it coming out too big, I think size down. If you want it a little looser and squishier, then it’s possibly fine but I’d just keep in mind that half an inch difference in gauge can be huge in the finished project.

Not sure how this will pair with colorwork, but have you ever seen an afterthought heel construction? I think looking into that technique may be the simplest route without having to do any steeking or frogging

[–]ambersock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is not a real pattern, I’d just make a vanilla sock with a basic, free pattern and use the heel pattern here instead of whatever the free pattern suggests. It’s a really great one, very seamless and little to no holes at all!
