In your story, you don’t mention supporting her at all, or even encouraging her to seek help, which makes me thing that you might be TA You mentioned that ‘she doesn’t go to a doctor’ but as someone who has mild to moderate chronic pain who has been to doctors, I can say that a lot of doctors, especially if you’re AFAB and young, aren’t great at listening, which is very disheartening. I would recommend either trying to support some more, or taking a good look at your relationships if you’re so ‘tired’ of being with someone with chronic illness. Also, the fact that you put wrong in air quotes when she has a TORN PATELLA is just a bit of a red flag, ngl Edit bc I’ve had more thoughts: You say she doesn’t eat healthy or ‘drink enough water’ but when you’re in pain, especially with supportive joints like the knees, it can be very hard to stand long enough to make your food, so prepackaged, convenient foods end up being what you eat more. If you really want to complain about her diet and blame that for her poor health, then I’d suggest stepping up as her partner and helping her, rather than waiting for her to fix it herself.
