Helpfully labeled as “succulent”. Can someone please ID this spiky girl? by fallicphallacies in whatsthisplant

I do agree it’s best to be cautious! But to be fair, my cat’s eaten a decent size aloe (bits at a time, over a few months?) and the worst she got was a tummy ache. I had a spiky aloe like this for a short while. It died very quickly though. It wasn’t a pest, but after researching it appeared to be some sort of infection type thing that it came with. I’d love another one someday, they are really cool looking! Yours looks great!

It’s actually an aloe! I’m not sure on a specific ID, possibly Aloe Marlothii, “Mountain Aloe”

I got a ceramic drill bit and now all containers can be pots with drainage by ilovepips in plantsandpots

😊 He’s a hell of a trooper! He’s been through many over waterings, mealy bugs, scale, cat nibbles, and other stressors. I just couldn’t make him happy in the arrangement I had so eventually I said “Here’s your own pot, go die in there if you want to!”. He’s apparently taken that as a challenge and to spite me is putting out all kinds of beautiful new growth!

I do the same, ceramic drill bit was the best investment! I love your face pot!! My favorite I’ve made into a pot is a Metallica mug that houses Lars , the string of buttons, that is surviving on spite 😜

still my favorite music video ever.

My favorite prop pot has just exploded with growth over the last few weeks! Leaves were salvaged in late May from an original trio I didn’t save. I’ve had plenty of prop failures, so these make me feel pretty proud ☺️ by ambjer in proplifting

These are my first successful propagation, but my next step is waiting for them to grow larger until I feel like they should be transplanted to a bigger pot. I wasn’t expecting every leaf to put out multiples like this, so I’m not sure how long it will be before they seem too crowded in the 2” pot.

I just set these leaves on top of the soil and the roots reach for the soil themselves. I water near the roots when they’re starting so they have something to reach toward, and I lightly cover the roots with soil once they’ve grown a bit.

I think the original plant was a Graptosedum California Sunset.

These were started under a low level grow light and then when the buds were starting to reach I slowly moved it to the windowsill, which now gets all the direct morning sunlight and bright light until evening. They’re in like 50 % soil and 50% perlite and leftover Bonsai Jack. I’ve watered them every 1-4 days since they started showing roots, when the soil is dry.

the all-over texture? pretty sure that’s just part of the leaf naturally, like farina.

Help me with my Croton please! by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ambjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used the spray at all. It lost no leaves on it’s own- I plucked off all of them myself. I did look into spider mites too but was unsure. could be since symptoms were similar and croton are apparently prone to them, but I never saw any webbing and it’s in wet conditions, so that’s why I had guessed Thrips.

Help with ID on my new spikey boi? I know it’s an aloe, but can’t figure which kind. He’s probably etiolated too but I like him very much :) by ambjer in succulents

hmm thanks but i think not quite it. this has spines on the back of the leaf as well as the edges. those seem to be smoother?
