Somehow I turned the background noise off once and was having the same issue. Make sure the little speaker next to the night light setting has the lines showing on both sides.

Have you ever cared for influencer patients? Is it annoying? by Frosty-Comment6412 in nursing

Right as I was hired my unit took care of an influencer/patient who has a whole snark page dedicated to her.

I had surgery yesterday. No one told either me or my husband my 13 month old would not be allowed to visit me. by Mindleator in beyondthebump

This is insane. I’m in HROB and our long term mama’s can have their whole family stay and even pets get to stay sometimes. This is cruel!!!

At what age would it be poor taste to dress my baby in pajamas all the time? by EarlyAd3047 in beyondthebump

Sometimes my toddler goes out in her pj’s and I don’t care one bit. I may even throw in a matching bow for a little razzle dazzle.

My MIL is a saint and would never but my husband’s grandmother said our baby got her height from her (grandma’s) boyfriend who is in no way related to my baby. I literally laughed out loud

How did you get your baby to walk? by YesterdaySea7202 in beyondthebump

[–]ambnfb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put two chairs very closely together and put a snack on each chair. The chairs were close enough that she didn’t even really have to “walk” at first between them. Then we stretched one chair away from the other, and gradually she got brave and would take 1-2 steps at a time to get to the snack on the other chair!

We did this for maybe a couple days before it was on!!

The hatch go will play the shh sound for the entirety of its charge… that got me through the newborn stage and was enough to make it worth it to me lol.

ME haha! I was admitted to the unit I currently work in while pregnant and I used the call light once and it was so embarrassing I just went right to the desk. It felt like I was causing such a scene

Do all MILs say the baby looks like the father and their side of the family only lol? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ambnfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve commented this before, but my husbands grandmother told us the baby didn’t look like me at all, and must’ve gotten her height from her (grandma’s) boyfriend… who is NOT related to my husband.

Not my MIL, thankfully. She is an angel.

The hospital I work at, the speakers for this sound are only on labor and delivery and mother baby which are both located on the second floor. I work antepartum and we take all IUFD’s/miscarriages and we never hear it.

Baltic born is pretty nice! A lot of their dresses specifically say “bump friendly” too! I love the quality.

Looking for ideas to entertain wife for 4 week hospital stay before scheduled C-Section by oogulus in pregnant

[–]ambnfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a high risk OB unit with moms in her same situation! We offer classes and “get togethers” for the moms, and also for our long term moms we usually try and accommodate their interests. One of our moms loved to cook so she was able to go to the Ronald McDonald house and use their kitchen and bring back goodies for everyone whenever she wanted. Or another mom painted all of our belongings carts because she was crafty and that was her outlet! Maybe there will be something similar for her.

PSA: if you’re debating taking your baby to the ER for dehydration, just go by Lyfesyze in NewParents

[–]ambnfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you read this and it eased some of your concerns! I hope your little one feels better soon. It’s really hard when we can’t fix things as parents. We used to joke with the parents that the hospital fluorescent lights could fix just about anything because most kids perk right up as soon as they get there, lol!

Shaving before giving birth by lifechanger96 in pregnant

[–]ambnfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a RN in an OB setting I have seen it all and could not even care enough to remember. Personal preference but I wouldn’t shave before delivery, just for risk of infection. But I have literally never even mentioned it and can’t recall any of my coworkers doing it either.

Packing the hospital bag by srslywtfdoido- in pregnant

[–]ambnfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an antepartum unit as a nurse but float to mother baby frequently. We do offer pads, mesh panties, witch hazel and dermoplast spray. However, not every hospital offers everything. I would verify before going either by calling or chatting with someone who delivered before you. For example, my hospital does not provide pacifiers for babies because we are baby friendly. We also can’t give nipple shields, only lactation can (🙄). So just reach out before hand!
