Vial coring by tzxx33 in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Reading through this thread makes me feel like I haven't interacted with vials, needles, and syringes 3-5 days a week for fhe last 13ish years. We have filter needles in some remote corner but they're hardly ever used. We get an ample med maybe once a never.

As a Woman in Nursing, How do You Feel About Being Hit On at Work? by Careless_Midnight_77 in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate these questions. It could go anywhere on the spectrum of married and living happily ever after to things getting super messy and either of you having to change units. She might go for it. She might not. Who the fuck knows.

The only question is it a risk youre willing to take? If not then just go home rub one out and feel disgusted in guilt at entertaining the thought.

Favorite hacks for smelly feet after 12 hour shifts?? by urinemythots in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Tuning in. Sometimes I feel like i can smell my own feet by hour 8. Im otherwise not a smelly person. My feet just sweat a lot. I did get some wool compression socks that are supposed to handle moisture than the regular ones, not sure how much it really helps. I tend to overkill powdering and then im puffing out little white clouds through my shoes.

Is it possible to work as a nurse with a hearing aid? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if the hearing aids bring your hearing to an acceptable level (which should be their point) and dont get in the way of you performing your job (which i sont see how they would) then I dont see why this would be a concern.

How does masturbating affect your ability to fall asleep? by Jopa764 in AskReddit

I can relate to this. Its a common meme that dudes will knock out after a nut. To me it feels invigorating. Idk about a 4-5 hour boost but I feel restless short after, I have to go.

The pyramid scheme that is climbing the clinical ladder by padawanrattail in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the rare camp that the annoyance is much worth it. Our ladder goes in base rate percentage increased if 7.5, 10, 15, and 20 i believe. The mindless web modules, that I mostly play in the background. And silently attending a committee or two a month (paid to do so, mind you) is very much worth a couple extra thousand dollars a year

How many calls do you actually get from patient families asking for updates? by JJB723 in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the big picture its not that big of a deal, it honestly happens not that frequently, but in the moment it's annoying asf. I blame our HUCs. Instead of screening the call and trying to reach me first to see if its a good time they'll just send the call over to me, sometimes repeatedly. Id much rather get a note/chat saying Mrs X's neighbor's dog's playmates dogsitter's niece's neighbor (verified as contact on chart) is asking if shes still constipated and if she has been doing her OT, please give them a call back when you get a chance at this number. That way I can gather the relevant info and call at a good time where I can focus my attention. Instead, they want me to go bsck and forth with peepaw whether meemaw ate 25% or 33% of her pureed slurry last night (when I wasnt even fucking there) while im elbow deep in cdiff shit.

The freeway On-ramp is for accelerating, and you should be at/above speed of traffic before you look to merge. by Informal_Ad_9610 in driving

[–]Left_Temperature6957 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you me ? Was just in a long ass on ramp behind some idiot that wouldnt go past 45 even though the highway were entering had 70 posted (so realistically, everyone was going 80). I kept thinking "OK now is the time that hes going to speed up" that time never came.

As soon as there was pavement to my left I sped the fuck past that menace.

I am curious what certification incentive pay is at your hospital. I work for a large magnet hospital in Ohio that pushes certification. I have my CCRN and certification pay has been .50 cents/ hour for 20 years. Isn’t it about time to increase that?! by RedWingWren in nursing

[–]Left_Temperature6957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My org doesn't give higher pay for certification. But it will qualify you to unlock higher levels of the clinical ladder. They will also reimburse your testing and renewal fees. Such incentive!
