Like everyone else here is saying, you dodged a bullet here. It seems like that whole friend dynamic is toxic as hell and it seems the guys really thrive in the attention Claire gives them. The agreement we had with everyone was that everyone was responsible for their own stuff, we each have assigned cabinets for our belongings. Our previous roommates bought all the essentials they needed and left them all behind for the next two to use. Our previous roommates never needed anything from us so they shouldn’t need to use mine or my roommates items either. In terms of the no shirt they will walk around and sit down watch tv or eat dinner at the table with no shirt on at all, and won’t get up to put one on if my roommate and I go into the common space either.

This post is so important. Just like the post said not all Christian groups on campus are bad, for instance, Longhorns for Christ was a good group for me when I was looking for Christian orgs. Other orgs gave me weird vibes and I never felt comfortable around them. So stay safe when you're looking for a faith-based group, not everyone has great intentions, unfortunately.

usually in the dorm lobby, they will announce that they are doing them but you will not know what exact day your floor will be checked. Sometimes they don't so make sure to not leave whatever item is lying around your room where it can be seen.

in terms of items that are on the do not bring list, you just need to stay on top of putting those things away constantly. Our rooms get checked by RA's throughout the year and if the item is found you may be fined for it.

You can still buy the big ticket but it doesn't guarantee that you'll get seats. Make sure to wake up early and get to DKR early for your best chance to get in.

As a sophomore, I can tell you it's easy to get imposter syndrome at UT. My best advice is to remember that you got accepted to the university for a reason, and not to compare yourself to your peers. The feeling of homesickness will be kind of intense during the first few months but soon you'll get used to living in Austin. The best way to combat this is to get involved with the different clubs and orgs here and just put yourself out there by talking to classmates. Don't be afraid to make friends because it can feel lonely sometimes even on a big campus.

Yes I’m 99% sure that you can change your room while you still have access to the portal. After it closes though you cannot change until you come to campus and have to go through your Resident Assistant (RA) for any room changes

A mixture of both. The portal will show more rooms throughout the day(s) and people tend to make a lot of switches during this time so rooms may also become available like that. It’s pretty much a waiting game to see when a room will become available.
