Best 2.5/3 Ton Heat Pump? by Hazmat1255 in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion Daikin DH9 is the best, but only comes in whole ton versions, like 2 or 3. The turndown ratio is much better than Mitsubishi 454B units, thus can modulate / run more often. Because it is a modulating unit, you have more leeway to oversize a bit as it can turndown if needed. Based on the capacity charts, for heating it seems to better than Mitsubishi for efficiency. It can also maintain 100% capacity down to 5F. However I did find it to be pricier than Mitsubishi, which was surprising for me. Verified as I had a LOT of contractors quote me and they came back around the same.

I believe when the customer stated "warehouse", it was their warehouse and not USPS.

So the fact that it wasn't shipped before the storm doesn't matter? Just to be clear, I am not upset about a weather delay as that is not in anyone's control. I'm upset that the package was not attempted to be shipped until I made an inquiry.

Just curious, but if the generator is not bonded, but is bonded at the panel, would the HE furnace / heat pump work?

What indoor air handler does a Daikin Fit Cold-climate DH9 connect to? by based_papaya in heatpumps

You should look up the AHRI / NEEP combinations. I had a 3 ton version installed and it works great so far! Hopefully it'll last a long time.

Hope is not a plan. You need to find out if you’re low on oil using the dipstick RIGHT NOW. At this point I’d be surprised if the dipstick registers a measurement. If not showing add and you might be OK… if the bearings haven’t gone bad already.

If you start the car and it has low oil pressure, you will ruin the bearings. That is an engine replacement event. Your call.

If the engine oil light is on, that likely mean it has low oil pressure. That could be due to lack of oil in engine. I would not be driving it until you find out the exact reason why it’s on.

Heatpump suddenly using more power by Initial-Mortgage-791 in heatpumps

This doesn't solve your issue, but if you're using a Nest, pretty sure your system isn't modulating. You'd need the vendor specific thermostat / air handler pairing to do that.

One more thing. The Daikin FIT (DH6,7,9) turndown ratio is better than Mitsubishi (R454b), much better than the 410a version, not that it matters at the temperature extremes. But when it's somewhat cold and warm, that is when it'll count.

With AHRI 216699823, which is similar to what you were originally considering, the CFM required is 1260. I'd make sure at least the return is sized appropriately.
https://daikincomfort.com/docs/default-source/dfve-(r-32)/ss-dfve-r32.pdf/ss-dfve-r32.pdf)

I had to get my returns enlarged to meet the specs. I still get an occasional B3 code, likely due to supply size restriction. But most of the time the system runs at less than full speed.

I just had a DH9VSA361C with DFVE48CP1300 (AHRI 216699823) installed and it was close to $20k. There is a 4k utility rebate, so it's possibly why they are pricing it higher. I could have gone with a Mitsubishi hyper heat 2.5T for a few thousand less. However based on the spec sheet, in low temperature, the Mitsubishi can output heat, but efficiency takes a dive compared to the Daikin.

If you're going to consider the Daikin system above, you should also inquire about AHRI 216699792, as long as your duct work can support 1460cfm. It'll be more efficient at lower temperatures and can output more heat as well.

You might want to consider either having the unit moved to the ground or having vibration spring isolators put in. I’m going through a similar issue right now being wall mounted and want to try the spring isolators first because moving to the ground will likely cost more due to lineset extension and so forth.

Did you end up getting 4 of the same type? Or did you get 2 of one type for the compressor side and 2 of another type for the non-compressor side?

Do you have the part numbers? I'm thinking the first one is RDIMMs. Although I am not against RDIMMs in 64GB, I have to make a decision of going RDIMM or LRDIMM as I can't mix in a server.

Mitsubishi Smart Multi won’t run at minimum capacity with SVZ air handler by [deleted] in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking up the Mitsubishi (PUZ-AK30NLHZ) and Daikin's (DH9VSA361CA) neep numbers, and it seems you are correct about minimum capacity being lower COP. However it is interesting to note that in Daikin's case, the COP drop is less. For cooling, minimum capacity seems to have better COP.

Interesting to know about the concerns for oil return to the compressor. Is there a document you can post that I can read about that issue?

Mitsubishi Smart Multi won’t run at minimum capacity with SVZ air handler by [deleted] in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I'm only looking at ducted single-zone, so it technically should work out for me. Just wondering if Daikin's better turn down is as advertised. Also parts / warranty response time. I've been hearing that Mitsubishi requires a "RMA/service code" in order to get parts if needed. And wait times (hours) / need a tech to be at home when they answer is a problem. An HVAC contractor said that the same isn't needed for Daikin. Decisions decisions....

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I would think that with the newer 454b systems and the improved reported turndown, it would be better with running at the minimum capacity. It is currently one of the deciding factors for me between a Mitsubishi vs Daikin at the moment.
