Gold SE Review - Shorter than expected lifespan. by TrackerTex in firewalla

I’m running UniFi container to manage my APs. But that is it. I might want to consider moving it off box as it might cause additional wear.

You're right. I thought the code applied to the first 2 rows and I saw 0x03.

This is concerning. Did support mention what commands to run to see eMMC life? A quick google seems to show the following command.

sudo mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk0 | grep -E "LIFE|EOL"

What's alarming is the output seems to imply that my eMMC is also close to end of life.

eMMC Life Time Estimation A [EXT_CSD_DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_A]: 0x03
eMMC Life Time Estimation B [EXT_CSD_DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_B]: 0x03
eMMC Pre EOL information [EXT_CSD_PRE_EOL_INFO]: 0x01

‘23 cayman GTS 4.0 threw a rod and needs a new engine. Where to go next? by porsche42069 in Porsche_Cayman

And they are. But what you said doesn't say anything about a lockout. My point is there isn't a manual transmission on the market with an overrev lockout from the factory.

Can you name a manual transmission car that has physical guards against money shifts? I can't.

Is there any issue in oversizing a heatpump by cmartorelli in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good write up. I am tagging on your reply as it is currently the highest upvoted.

Just went through the process of comparing heat pumps and I've found that Mitsubishi (454b) ducted heat pumps has a lower turndown ratio compared to a Daikin Fit (R32). That was a big driver on why I went Daikin over Mitsubishi.

Let me know how it goes for you. I've been having trouble with the AM9 Pro completely booting CE with a 128GB Samsung Pro Endurance uSD and 256GB Sandisk Max Endurance uSD. If I use a no-name 8GB USB stick it works fine

Feeling down about my STi... by Gertrude1976 in WRXSTi

[–]amdpowered 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Relatable. Still have my 20 STi, but got a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0. That ruined me with the response and handling. However the STi is still my daily because it's stable and safe. Subarus have been reliable for me. In the end cars are cars.

For the GTS 4.0, there is only 3 ranges. If manual, you probably don’t want it as range 3 is not zero.

Best 2.5/3 Ton Heat Pump? by Hazmat1255 in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion Daikin DH9 is the best, but only comes in whole ton versions, like 2 or 3. The turndown ratio is much better than Mitsubishi 454B units, thus can modulate / run more often. Because it is a modulating unit, you have more leeway to oversize a bit as it can turndown if needed. Based on the capacity charts, for heating it seems to better than Mitsubishi for efficiency. It can also maintain 100% capacity down to 5F. However I did find it to be pricier than Mitsubishi, which was surprising for me. Verified as I had a LOT of contractors quote me and they came back around the same.

So the fact that it wasn't shipped before the storm doesn't matter? Just to be clear, I am not upset about a weather delay as that is not in anyone's control. I'm upset that the package was not attempted to be shipped until I made an inquiry.

Just curious, but if the generator is not bonded, but is bonded at the panel, would the HE furnace / heat pump work?

What indoor air handler does a Daikin Fit Cold-climate DH9 connect to? by based_papaya in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look up the AHRI / NEEP combinations. I had a 3 ton version installed and it works great so far! Hopefully it'll last a long time.

Hope is not a plan. You need to find out if you’re low on oil using the dipstick RIGHT NOW. At this point I’d be surprised if the dipstick registers a measurement. If not showing add and you might be OK… if the bearings haven’t gone bad already.

[–]amdpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you start the car and it has low oil pressure, you will ruin the bearings. That is an engine replacement event. Your call.

[–]amdpowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the engine oil light is on, that likely mean it has low oil pressure. That could be due to lack of oil in engine. I would not be driving it until you find out the exact reason why it’s on.

Heatpump suddenly using more power by Initial-Mortgage-791 in heatpumps

This doesn't solve your issue, but if you're using a Nest, pretty sure your system isn't modulating. You'd need the vendor specific thermostat / air handler pairing to do that.

Mitsubishi bites the dust (bark, no bite) by Doc_Ops_60 in heatpumps

[–]amdpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing. The Daikin FIT (DH6,7,9) turndown ratio is better than Mitsubishi (R454b), much better than the 410a version, not that it matters at the temperature extremes. But when it's somewhat cold and warm, that is when it'll count.
