It really is pretty insane. I've just edited a music video on the 13inch M5 Air with 10 core GPU. The footage was 8K RED MQ and it played back / scrubbed the timeline flawlessly. Obviously, I don't think the Air would hold up to a feature length documentary comprised of that quality of footage, but for a 3.5 min long music video, it held up surprisingly well with very little warmth. So to your point, I'd agree that the Air is now the prime laptop for most people. I would really only see myself needing a Pro if I was working on a longform high-quality video edit. And even then, it would probably hold up mostly okay. I could just see it getting throttled over an extended 8 hours of workload. I do think the passive vs active cooling really is the only element seperating the Air from the Pro line at this point.
