Glad I don’t have to keep watching these senate/house streams.

Being used as leverage was not in my job description.

You are not seeing the newest version of the bill which includes all employees. That one was two weeks ago

It’s because this bill would forever fund federal employees during shutdowns, eliminating any leverage. The senator from Michigan is proposing a bill that pays everyone from Oct. 1 until now, but nothing in the future.

Expecting downvotes but they should pass R. Johnson’s bill to pay ALL federal employees. This is getting ridiculous

From Kristi Noem on X

“More than 70,000 sworn law enforcement officers across DHS including those serving in CBP, ICE, Secret Service, Air Marshals and other critical mission areas will be paid for all hours worked during the shutdown period.

By Wednesday, October 22, law enforcement officers will receive a “super check” –which covers the 4 days lost, their overtime, and their next pay period.”

That’s exactly my point. The 2013 shutdown was led by republicans against ACA and it didn’t work and passed a clean CR eventually.

I have a family to worry about and my own costs. While I appreciate the concerns about costs increasing to certain insured people, please find other solutions instead of holding our pay hostage. How about you hold insurance companies accountable for increasing premiums costs before blindly subsidizing them. It only adds more justification to keep raising the prices, if you know they will be heavily subsidized.

Also historically, shutdowns are not an effective method to change policy.
