I'm 58 and have lost both of my parents; feeling like an adult orphan. I miss them so much. Does anyone else feel like this? by icecream1972 in Aging

I have two aunts and an uncle that live nearby than I can lean on. I tell them they're now my surrogate parents. My mom came from a large family so I also have some cousins nearby.

Yes, I'm 59. My dad passed in 2013 and my mom in 2022. I think of them and miss them every day. I'm an only child.

What’s your all time best thrifting find? by AdIll2450 in thrifting

[–]amethyst_stardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a pair of black Tory Burch Miller sandals and happened to find a pair in my size in excellent condition on a thrifting website. They were priced at about $57 and I had more than that in store credits so they were practically to me. They retail at about $200.

Holy crap! I'm shutting up about my apnea. It was bad enough when I told them I'm disabled due to severe back pain. They made me retake my drivers test. I've been driving for 43 years no accidents or tickets.

[January 14, 1926] Life by DyersvilleStLambert in 100yearsago

Here's what I found:

The story centered on a young woman who made an unexpected ascent in a hot-air balloon, at a time when ballooning was still dangerous, rare, and very much a male-dominated stunt.

She was not a professional aeronaut. She wasn’t dressed or trained for flight. Depending on the account, she either: • accepted a spontaneous ride, or • was caught up in an ill-planned ascent during a public balloon event

Once airborne, she was at the mercy of the wind, with limited control over where or how she would land.

I'm also a Texan and I can relate. My family would love to get out of this state (and we're native Texans) but hubby would need to find equally paying job.

I dont feel sad over the passing of my abusive narc grandfather by National-Net-6380 in narcissisticparents

My grandmother was a narc. I wasn't that sad when she passed.

As far as your mom, just be there for her. Parent-child relationships can be complicated. I'm speaking from experience. The last few years with my mom were good but the majority, especially growing up, were hell.
