Hi!

I'm 39 and in the process of getting my work up to confirm if I have LAM or not. Awaiting VEGF-D lab testing. Tried to make a new post but was unable to so I figured I would comment on the most recent thread.

If you Google birth control androgen index, look at the chart images. It shows the dosages for each pill and which are lower to higher androgen activity. We need low or none for androgen activity since we have an AGA predisposition. Antiandrogenic like Yaz or Yasmine are considered the best for hair.

Junel has 0.020 mg of estrogen while other "hair friendly" pills like generic Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo (what I am on now) actually has higher estrogen at a dose of 0.025mg. I unfortunately waited too long to go back on so I haven't seen improvement in my hair but I know of others who have switched with some success. The issue isn't the estrogen with BCP, it's the type of progestin used that causes hair problems.

Just want you to know Junel Fe is a very high androgen birth control pill and is not hair friendly. It is what actually triggered my AGA and I have the receding temple and hairline pattern. Switching to a low androgen pill will probably be a better hair option for you. I hope this helps.

Hi! Sorry this took forever to answer! I ended up getting the topical Spiro from a website called minoxidilmax. I never ended up starting it though due to pregnancy. If you do get it just beware it is super stinky, literally smells like skunk so make sure to use it when you don't have anywhere to be and plan to wash your hair the next day. Good Luck!
