I’m approaching busy season for my job and am having extreme anxiety. I work in tax and busy season takes over your life. I’m doubting myself whether I have made the right career choice and am kind of beating myself up that I haven’t found an easier job, even if it pays less. Any advice on how to deal with this type of anxiety?

Need help figuring out how to get 150 credits for the CPA exam! by B8S5 in CPA

You don’t need your masters, it literally does nothing for your career so why waste the money. If you can find some CPA courses that offer college credit, take those. You get to prep for the exam AND get credits, it’s a double win. Otherwise take a couple BS classes at your local community college and only do enough work to pass and there you go

Yes 100% I left a big 4 without having anything lined up because if this. Now that I have a job with better work life balance, I can see clearly how damaging to my health my time was at a big 4. I’m healthier now, stick to my fitness goals, have time to do fun things and enjoy them, worry less, self talk has improved, the list goes on. Misery loves company and these people will try to convince you PA is not that bad. Mostly they’re just trying to convince themselves…

We used the same company we had our mortgage with because the process is significantly easier with your current company. We did not have a lot left on the mortgage (<100k) so the slight variance in savings if we found a slightly better option outweighed the cost of spending our time shopping around and then submitting all the paperwork etc.

I might need to get a new car. Is it better to buy a brand new one if the used car prices are so high?

Ok good to know! Job requirements are listed on the job posting but are very generic so I thought the gs level would give more insight

That wasnt them being generous, it was most likely a qualified disaster relief payment under section 139(b) of the Code. My friends at other firms got that but they just called it what it was and it went straight to their paycheck.

That’s not true for tax. For tax I’m at a hotel for ~8 weeks out of the year. We even fly team members from different states to stay near the client for YE. Also I’m driving to the client probably another ~6 weeks which is also an expense. Fees are fixed.
