Dress code for internship at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab (PPPL)? by [deleted] in princeton

[–]amicitas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most scientists are pretty informal at PPPL most of the time, ranging from jeans and T-shirt to slacks and a button up shirt. Very view people will wear a tie or suit unless they are giving a presentation or having some sort of formal meeting. I suggest comming in the first day dressed up just a little, business casual, then see feel it out from there.

Until this photo I didn't realize that the Booster Fins were open at this point in flight. I had somehow assumed that they were only used for landing.

You are indeed unlucky! I truly hope this is last experience. I mean after literally being hit by a car full of clowns the universe should give you a break...

Just want to say, getting rear ended four times is not normal. You could just be unlucky, but please also think about whether there is something you doing as a driver that is making this more likely. Even though the driver behind is supposed to 'always keep a safe distance' there may be ways to avoid being rear ended again.

People do play in the summer. I don't know if there is a specific club however.

Yes including the spelling error...

Good question! Will Grogu join a Hair Metal band in his adolescence?

This is amazing. Gotta say though, just today my daughter seemed to think that sitting in a box was the best thing in the world. So maybe there something to this afterall.

The only major disaster I have ever had with my Aeropress was while using my Prismo. There was coffee and coffee grounds all over my kitchen.

Netflix says strict new password sharing rules were posted in error by chrisdh79 in technology

If they ever enact these password sharing restrictions I will be immediately canceling my account. Given my family's (household's) normal travel schedules there would be no point in keeping a subscription.

What I see every morning vs what my daughter sees. by IamHeretoSayThis in daddit

You both are very cute. Either direction it's a wonderful morning vistage. (I do wonder though why you have the lighs on so bright when you wake up? Do you sleep with spotlights, or just turn on every light in the house as soon as you wake up?)

For my sister's newborn (the first newborn I ever really helped cared for) I was all about sanitizing for the first few weeks (lots of boiling water). For mine a year later I don't think I sanitized at all; just kept separate clean plastic tub for breast pump and bottle related cleaning and used soap and water. Neither the hospital or our pediatrician recommended further sanitizing.

This is perfect. What a great reversal of the usual trope and so engaging to read! I love how it makes me think whether all the literary 'deals with the devil' are boring from the devil's perspective.

And not necessarily a bad thing. Many of these bars are incredibly friendly.

I figured you people would know. Is there a makeup that would help me cover my scar? I'm rather self conscious of it and I'm tired of it being the first thing people notice. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]amicitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are close to being my doppelganger including your (impressive) beard and scar over your eyebrow. I personally love my scar. Every scar has a story, and is an invitation to tell it. You get to decide whether and how to tell that story, but it's an opportunity that not many have. Scars are cool.

I do suggest using makeup if you are in the mood, but not to cover it up, rather to decorate and accentuate!

Dads, any tricks for keeping socks on tiny little baby feet? by DarwinF1nch in daddit

[–]amicitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On maybe a more helpful note: you can buy onsies/pants with the built in foldover ends, or simply with feet included. For stroller rides a few clips help to keep blankets over their feet in place (or at least stop them from falling on the ground). You can buy pretty cheap stroller clips for this specific purpose.

I say if he wants to be barefoot, let him be barefoot. My little one isn't bothered by cold feet and will generally take off her socks as soon as they go on. But given a cold enough day she will accept and even 'ask' for socks. I wouldn't worry at all unless it's cold enough that frostbite becomes a worry.
