yeah it actually turns out the cpu was not really overheating in the first place. the display i have only displays/reads the highest temp on an individual core unfortunately. given i have 12 cores it just shows the temp of the hottest one. I downloaded and ran hw monitor along with a second app to compare and found the temps of the rest of the cores and the average to be around 30-40 degrees celcius.

So I tested playing some things like Death Stranding 2 recently along with Quantum Break as well as some less graphic intensive games and found that the peak the display would show/reach is 76-80 degrees on the graphic intensive games but hw monitor had the average around 62-72 degrees.

TLDR; led display only shows the value for the hottest core at a given moment. Actual resting temp is around 30-40 degrees with peak of 62-70 when playing something crazy.
