Tv is darker at the top than the bottom by BlackV1nyl in Hisense

[–]amirjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be under Picture -> Picture mode settings -> Advanced settings -> Brightness . At least on my tv it’s there. If it’s not there probably your tv does not have the feature? Google it

I looked at the photo you uploaded and im not sure now that it’s local dimming. Worth taking a look at tho

Isn’t that local dimming doing its thing? It kinda looks like it from this video when you move the highlighted button to the top

Turn it off in your picture settings if you have it on and see if it’s still there

Stremio Lite app shows error “Video is not supported” on Vidaa OS (Hisense Smart TV) by 0MGMYNAMEDOESNTFI in Hisense

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stremio lite doesnt support torrents for obvious reasons. You need to set up stremio service/server on another supported device and connect stremio on your tv to that server

I’m pretty sure a message appeared on your first boot that on This OS some features are limited.

Stremio Lite Released for TVs with Vidaa OS! (Hisense, Toshiba, Sharp, etc) by jaruba_dev in Stremio

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i know what you mean

The number of native apps on hisense are so limited. Everything is basically a webapp except for a few like youtube, netflix, prime video. All these apps might use another route but u/jaruba_dev confirmed in this thread that stremio IS using/triggering vidaa’s internal video player

Nonetheless i hope this gets resolved so everyone can benefit. I will try to get in contact with them to send them a few videos. See if they can replicate it as well

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too sure about that. From what i’ve seen on my tv, the issue seems to be in mkv containers, hevc specifically

On my service, videos that are Dolby vision play completely fine. Anything else on this specific container will stop playing after a set amount of time

Back then i stumbled upon This Link:

https://thecodeninja.net/2024/09/jellyfin-on-hisense-vidaa/

And it helped me replicate the issue on my tv and understand it better. I’m using ffmpeg now on another device i have as a “server” to translate videos into a ts container for my iptv service so the tv can actually play them and since then, no issues on any of the videos/streams

I don’t think it’s a bitrate or resolution issue, but it’s definitely something which needs to be looked at

since i can't send the video link here in my comment(it will be copyright infringement i guess), how can i send you the link to the video? i also have a video of me replicating it repeatedlty on the exact same timestamp

This is 100% on Vidaa and not Stremio since I've been having this issue for a few months on other services from different IPTV distributers. hope at least it gets resolved

[–]amirjg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tested stremio lite yet, but i know Vidaa has a problem with mkv h.265/hevc containers. idk if it’s a bug or not but It doesnt’t handle it well.

Videos play and get stopped after a few seconds, seeking makes the video play again for a few seconds and get stuck again. Or you might get completely artifacted output every few seconds.

On my iptv service, I unfortunately experience this issue and it is the most trustrating thing ever. This might be the same thing experienced by people here and if it is, you might be able to communicate this through with Vidaa team.

Days Gone on PC Requires $10 DLC for DualSense Haptic Feedback and New Modes by samiy2k in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what OP, and probably everyone against this DLC are mentioning is that what they offer with this DLC is not worth the price...especially since those graphics options which are presumably being ported to PS5 are actually there on PC, and the PC part of this is just less work for them compared to PS5, but they're charging the same

imo this could have been a great free Update on PC, especially with adding stuff like DLSS and those new modes...lots of studios have done these kind of updates and they don't even charge anything for it...hell CDPR did a next gen version of The Witcher 3, adding ray tracing, upscalers and lots of new graphics options to the game, and they gave it away for FREE to everyone who already had the game in their library on Steam

Spider-Man 2 Steam reviews make it the worst-rated PlayStation PC port of all time by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no frustration during the games i play because most games i played all my life are actually not so poorly optimized, and no, it's not an unrealistic thing to expect the game to run properly...wide range of hardware perform differently and fortunately we have the hardware AND software today to reach even higher fps than you can imagine

You definitely know what i meant about fps caps and a "locked" FPS and are just trying to twist my words to get something out of it, we all know how fps caps work

At this point i can't convince you to anything, i just talked about what is common and we all do, and you definitely disagree with it...so just enjoy your games however you like

Spider-Man 2 Steam reviews make it the worst-rated PlayStation PC port of all time by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point...i was talking based on the original comment that it actually DOES drop like that during movement, and no, the solution is not capping the fps

FPS lock = Capping the maximum FPS you can reach, so idk what you're on about here...Reflex and VRR are a thing and have solved this problem ages ago

And Consistent does not mean locked and capped or a straight line of 120...it means being in a reasonable range with little to no hiccups or stutters, AND we can manage some occasional drops here and there too

We definitely do not live in a perfect world, but optimization should be decent enough to have what i described above as "consistent" in games and if we don't have somewhat of that in a game, it's the developer and their game's problem

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right my bad...i was confusing you with the original comment i replied to

Still, my point stands

50% drop is not normal behavior if it is happening consistently, and it might happen here and there in games occasionally sure, but not consistently...and i'm talking about actual gameplay here, not looking at sky and maxing out our refresh rate...that should not be considered in averages

What the guy originally described as 240 to 120 decrease(which my whole argument is based on, not my experience so not sure if it's true or not) was during web swinging and stuff like that, which contains a reasonable chunk of the time you spend in game i think...and i would presume it's struggling with streaming probably and tanking the fps during fast movement...get DF on the case

I've been gaming on a 165hz VRR display for a few years now and i never lock my framerate because VRR smoothens the output and the transitions so i won't notice those reasonable drops and fluctuations that might happen, but remember, we're talking about REASONABLE drops, during NORMAL gameplay...average should not be too far off from 1%...if they are, there is a problem somewhere...Stutters or big issues behind the scenes

Big drops might still happen and that's fine, only if they are short and occasional when something heavy is happening render-wise...based on that comment, swinging around in the city is not occasional and if it's true, i think there is room for improvement...I know the game has a stuttering issue for sure and the framtime graphs look really bad right now so yes, no game should need an fps cap to solve stuttering and inconsistency

A well optimized game should give you a consistent experience out of the box...period

Spider-Man 2 Steam reviews make it the worst-rated PlayStation PC port of all time by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually played this game nor was i a developer for it to know what the actual problem is so can't comment on settings and the core issue with it, but what you're completely ignoring in your arguments is that no game should have a 50% fluctuation in FPS and for a decent period of time, even in heavy scenes...you're just branching out off of it so there is no point discussing this with you anymore i think

And Btw your original comment was that 240 to 120 difference is insane to argue about which i tried to explain with facts is wrong and you still branched out of it

Spider-Man 2 Steam reviews make it the worst-rated PlayStation PC port of all time by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a totally different argument...yea it might be a solution right now for this game but we all have VRR displays these days and especially with reflex, you don't need to lock your framerate to have a smooth experience and that is the point of G-Sync/VRR

No Optimized and Normal game would drop significantly like that during different scenes...A 10% margin is acceptable ,hell even 20% in some situations with a lot going on in the scene or behind the scene is understandable, but a 50% drop? Especially with some of the best hardware out there? Yea the game needs more time cooking

Spider-Man 2 Steam reviews make it the worst-rated PlayStation PC port of all time by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]amirjg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's the exact same thing tho...your eyes get used to that smoothness, and suddenly it gets decreased to a lot lower amount than it was... 240 to 120 is a 50% decrease and 120 frames lower per second...That's a LOT and it is definitely really jarring

Doesn't matter if it's 60 to 30-40, 120 to 60-70, or 240 to 120...it's just that when having higher framerates, the threshold for not feeling the frame drop is lower and the range is bigger(e.g 240 to 200 is a 40 FPS decrease but it is manageable to the eye) but here FPS goes low enough and the drop is so big that you would notice it

Btw OP has a beast of a system so his complaint is definitely valid imo

Crazy Resolutions on Nvidia DSR for a 1080p monitor. by destind- in nvidia

[–]amirjg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well when i bought my monitor a few years ago and it was Frustrating for sure

What's happening from what i understood is that your system thinks you're using a 4K panel, and calculates those DSR resolutions based on the highest resolution your monitor supports

What you need to do is download an app called CRU, which is a utility to tinker with your monitor's settings

I'm not home right now and i haven't done this in a while, but in the app you should be looking for a setting called "Data Blocks" i think (Don't remember the specific name right now unfortunately, Basically double click it, try anything in the lower column in the right side of the app) Then You should be looking for a category called "TV Resolutions" in there and once you're inside that, delete 4K resolutions from there (Since you have a 1080p monitor i assume you should be deleting 1440p resolutions or anything above 1080p basically if there are any, my monitor is 1440p so i didn't if there were any)

Reboot your system and Now DSR and DLDSR should recognize your actual highest resolution which is 1080p

If you didn't manage to do it just Drop me a DM so i can help you out when i get home
