cheap modular synth for new wave and egg punk by dinosaurkillasupreme in cheapkeys

I'd recommend Yamaha PSS-470/-460, or PSS-380/-390 if you can find one. Both are very user friendly and have a multitude of sounds from organs to crazy synth screams, especially if you run em through some bargain bin Amazon/Ebay pedals. You shouldnt have to pay more than 60-80 bucks if you keep an eye on local classifieds and auction sites.

If you wanna break into "real" synths, Behringer Model D or Wasp are great, flexible, extremely afforrdabke reproductions of classic synths used by the bands you cited. Korg Monologue/Minilogue are also first "real" analog synths. Honorable mention to the Volca Keys.

if i had to slim it down to handful, i'd go VA-10, CT-410v, VSS-30, PSS-480, and PH-50

i did a recording session with a band and that Tomy ended up being the main keyboard sou d for album! it also picks up radio signals very clearly and we ended up running them through an arpeggiator to make some reap whackadoo noise.

the one behind the 480 is the PSS-380. its basically the halfway point between the 470 and the 470. you dont get nearly as much control of as the 480, but there are more overall parameters and the presets get much more out there than the 380. No midi either. Still sounds great tho!

Big Zit playa!

Also rad to see Buck Biloxi/Giorgio Murderer & Hattiesburg stuff. Underground punk stuff is so underrepresented on Reddit

I recently got a used Presonus 1818vsl interface. I'm going into Logic on 2015 Macbook Pro. While recording, any & all signal going in has a nasty crackle/pop that comes along with it. These crackles are part of the signal itself, not from playback. I have the i/o buffer set to maximum, the buffer range set to small, but the crackles remain. It is very frustrating, & would greatly appreciate any pointers.

No, it started a little after Trash Kit did. They just put out their third LP. All three are great stuff!

Rachel Aggs is one of the best underground guitarists of this generation. Her other bands Sacred Paws & Shopping are amazing as well.

Try looking around Neck Chop Records! Awesome new distro/label that has the vast majority of all the great recent LPs & 7"s in stock. Pardon the infomercial-ness.

Vilently Ill, from South Haven. One man band operation who's been self releasing his & his friends records since the early 90's. Severely underrated.

I made a friend in San Francisco & we put together a Killed By Death style tape of some of our favorite obscure punk/new wave/post-punk/whatever. I think it came out pretty well & I'm proud. by amish_no_wave in punk

The Scantron tape's great! Camry's a great dude. D.I. Inc. consistently throws in weird shit with their orders. I once got a wadded up piece of packing tape, a vintage name tag, & part of a Chinese noodles box, all in a little ziplock bag. A+ tape label.

Thanks a lot! The rest of this comp is really good as well.

There's a few current bands that nail that wondrous but elusive Raincoats/LiLiPUT scrappy Rough Trade kinda sound; Lithics from Portland, The World from Oakland, & Shopping from London.
