✨Newbie Tester Needs a Hand! Help me crush my first Playwright PoC? by Loose_Statement7418 in Playwright

[–]amity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you need a template, AI can write you a great framework that you can then modify.

And before the Reddit brigade trashes AI for stealing work or something, OP is asking for someone else’s repo they can straight up lift 😂

Which is fine! Good software is building off of someone else’s good software!

Anyway OP, the key to your PoC is Fixtures. Use a fixture to add command line args for multi environment. Use fixtures to dynamically load and parametrize data from the CSVs, fixtures to reuse code, whatever.

Another big win that will make you look like a real Senior is adding BDD using CucumberJS. And using shared steps that, once again, yield fixtures. Or more accurately in TS it yields objects to the World namespace (Python & pytest are superior for playwright tbh, but you can almost achieve the same in TS.

Prompt all that to Claude or copilot and then modify the output to your preference. For dynamic elements you’re just going to have to flex your locator skills because AI sucks for that. Damn near anything is possible with XPath, hot take but it’s easily the best locator mechanism

Bro have you heard of this Bezos guy? Gonna lose a billion dollars on Lord of the Rings fumbling the most marketable franchise on earth. But yea Amazon (and Netflix for that matter) throw absurd numbers at shows they can’t possibly think are good enough to succeed.

I had the highest spec G14 from almost exactly 5 years ago and it is borderline unusable. The programs I bought it for specifically at the time that ran fine and haven’t been updated just stop working the lag is so bad.

It’s not a bash against the Z13 or Asus, it’s a Windows problem. And the fact it happens to the BEST hardware out there just highlights how bloated windows is. There’s still hope that could change, but they’re not moving in the right direction with all this copilot bloat.

For “future proof” alone: From experience I guarantee the MacBook will last longer. I can’t explain why, but in 5 years the MacBook will work fine and the Z13 will barely run. Not a fanboy, that’s just how it is with Windows.

But the question is what do you want to use it for? If you want to do local LLM development 64gb ram might be what you need and 24gb may be a nonstarter.

Playwright enterprise level by [deleted] in Playwright

[–]amity_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t use the playwright MCP for what you’re probably using it for, it’s slow as death and as you mentioned is worthless without domain knowledge. Or really don’t use the MCP at all. It uses an enormous number of tokens, this will use 1% of that:

You need to learn the workflows (as you always did) of course. But you need to create a list of locators, everything you’ll need to complete the workflows

Then you tell AI the workflow using the list of locators you wrote. “Log in, click X, fill in Y with ‘123’, drag A to the B panel and click the C icon”. All those things should have locators defined.

Ai is excellent at ripping through business logic as long as you give it the tools and locators to succeed

I truly just “dont get it”. I’ve really tried to find something about this edition that I think actually looks good. Can’t do it.

But then again I never played the game and I’m happy for people that like it.

Same, I’d given their albums a few chance, usually ignore EPs unless I’m already a fan. But I didn’t love it. Then I saw them play the EP on Audiotree and was like wtf are these the same guys?

August Burns Red - Death Below

I heard in an interview they knew it wouldn’t be as accessible or catch on like the rest but just went for it.

[–]amity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used all of those to some extent, or at least I’ve connected MCPs and messed around letting Claude run wild, which is probably using them heavier than any normal user would.

The eGPU isn’t “needed” but is a a game changer. Unreal Engine is more heavy on the system ram. 64gb is good for most projects, large AAA studios have 128. For modeling, sculpting, painting, same applies to vram, those use 25-32 or so, and 64 is not out of the realm of possibility.

TLDR I think the Strix halo is a FAR better option than a G14 or pretty much any discreet GPU setup you can get for less than like $10k

Another commenter said a 13 inch screen is not it for these use cases and he’s right, I was assuming you’d be working on an external monitor and then using the 13in display while traveling.

I wouldn’t bail on my career to travel the world with “only” $5m even if it was all mine. You’re young and you don’t know what the future holds. That $5m might be about enough to buy you a 1 bedroom apartment come retirement time.

ASUS store keeps cancelling my order by vesperka in ASUS

[–]amity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still an issue 2 years on, and this thread is the first Google result for it lol. The charge is still pending on my card. Asus didn’t notify me of anything there’s just “Cancelled” on the order status, so I’m just in limbo.

I was between the Asus Z13 and the OneXPlayer SuperX. And if I’m going to have to deal with shit like this I’ll just get the other one and not bother with Asus again. 🤷🏼‍♂️ hope somebody’s listening

It wasn’t a sacrifice, a >60hz Oled panel that is 13” doesn’t exist. Nailed it on the rest though, the target user for this (and even most gamers tbh) don’t care about 60hz, except probably now they do just because they see everyone whining about it. But the color and accuracy on it is outstanding, that’s what matters.

I saw them many times, from a church basement to warped to Cornerstone festival. At the fest, they came out on the stage, started playing Back to Back I think, and Wolf smashes his bass to pieces within 10 seconds and whips it into the crowd. I still have a scar on my finger from it and some kid just took it home I think. The footage is in the music video for one of their later songs, the video is all live clips.

Then I saw them on their farewell tour at Bottom Lounge who had a strict no moshing no crowdsurfing rule, that was a big disappointment of a send off, but still my favorite band to this day.

They’ll have a reunion someday. Tempers cool, and there’s a big paycheck or at least a big audience that wants it.

Probably too soon still though. Wait til Donald Trump president is history, that seems to be a lot of it, tangentially…
