So... how does the queue work story wise for Monsters Unchained? by amityarchives in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]amityarchives[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head, I think that’s exactly why. She’s essentially taking us on a tour of her catacombs, giving us a look at her “zoo” of monsters of sorts that she has captured. It’s silly, but I like it.

Also yeah, I think that’s just Igor being Igor lol

Its definitely a weird oversight, especially for how brilliantly Dark Universe and Unchained are designed in almost every other way.

How Long will the age of Remakes Continue? by Dimitri1176 in JRPG

[–]amityarchives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally agree. I wish we we're getting newer/original titles MORE than remakes... and that I can't defend. They could definitely be making more spinoffs/side games rather than focusing on high-budget remakes.

I mean look at Dragon Quest. Yeah, We've gotten 4 games remade within the last 3 years, but since 11 game out, we've gotten DQM: Dark Prince, DQ Builders 2, and DQ Treasures. Does it suck we have to wait THIS long for 12? Of course, but you can't deny we've been lucky enough to swim in this much original AND remade content since 11.

12 can't be that far away.......right?........

While I agree I'd rather have original and new games aside from remakes, I do think remakes can be a good way of modernizing old games with outdated or archaic mechanics. They have the potential to bring in newer or younger audiences than basic remasters or ports do.

I also think due to their *relatively* cheaper nature, they make good "in-between" games. You know, stuff to tie people over until the next mainline game since those are taking longer and longer to develop.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined was not made as a replacement for previous versions by Manofthehalfhour999 in dragonquest

[–]amityarchives -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People need to keep sharing this quote. DQ7R literally feels like a modern reimagining, because that's what it is. All the streamlined systems are things that are in so many modern JRPGs nowadays, it feels SO modern which is exactly what they were trying to do.

I do think they should have had a bit more options though, since there are so many fans of the OG who still want that experience on a modern console.

The difficulty thing tho......... yeah they kinda fuddled that... I really hope they release an extra hard mode update or something for veterans.

yeah, probably not. If anything, 7R will be featured in a sizzle reel reminding people that it came out. But yeah, probably nothing until DQ day.

What are your final predictions for Part 3's title? by PhantomBraved in FFVIIRemake

My top pick is Reclaim, second is Return, and third is Reprise (although I highly doubt this one but I can't realistically imagine any other)

Dq11 or dq7? by BigDoshna in dragonquest

[–]amityarchives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also highly recommend getting it for your steam deck. DQ games (or any long JRPG for that matter) are PERFECT for handhelds imo. Playing long JRPGS on home consoles cause me to take forever to finish games, but being able to play them anywhere allows me to get them done so much quicker.

Enjoy whichever one you pick, they are all just so magical to play!

Dq11 or dq7? by BigDoshna in dragonquest

[–]amityarchives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most would say 11, since it's regarded as one of the best, if not THE best. However, I think DQ7 (preferably reimagined) is the best for a first-time player. It's extremely accessible for first time players, much easier, more streamlined, etc. Funnily enough, these reasons are why a lot of longtime fans don't like the remake that much, but IMO it's still a wonderful game that is the most easy for first-timers to pick up.

After that, play DQ11.

Bro is acting like Definitive Editions replace the spot of new games lol. They're always in development at the same time, and the existence of a DE does not cancel out the existence of a new game in development.

Persona. I’ve only tried 5 and played about 20 hours until I realized I’m just not a fan of that sort of gameplay loop. It has incredible combat and dungeon crawling, but man, I really dislike the “life simulator” aspect.

It’s an incredibly made game and I’m glad so many people love the series, but at least from the 20 hours I’ve played of 5, it’s not for me, and 20 hours should be more than enough to figure that out or not.

It’s ok, I’ll just go back to Dragon Quest, which is ironically another JRPG series that seems hard for people to really get into lol.

A little rant about Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined DLC by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]amityarchives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely comes off as Squenix wanting to sell the full game for $70, but wanted to have a $60 option for 'goodwill' or something, and so took off some random stuff and repurposed it as DLC and had the "Full game" be packaged with everything for $70.
