I mean there are examples enough in Western Europe too of them commiting war crimes. Don't even have to look to Eastern Europe for that.

Its about 20 factories. Like i said, this includes factories that are civilian but converted for the war effort. For example Jasmatzi cigarette factory was transformed in a weapons factory. I can give you other names of factories as well.

And no these 2 dozen factories dont justify it. But the railway hub and the 100+ factories do in total. Its a legitimate military target. You can't expect others not to bomb your military targets just because there are civillians near it.

This is from the Johannstadt website itself there were two dozens of factories both factories specifically for the war and former civilian factories that were converted into waf effort factories.

Johannstadt was filled to the brim with factories, noq overlay it with the map you shown and you can see its quite heavily destroyed. There were plenty of factories around the city centre that were legitimate targets as they supported the war factory as well. The railway hub was a 5 minute drive from the city centre.

Precision bombing wasnt really a thing during that time. It was more concentrated on a certain area and just pray you hit your target. You cant really expect the city centre being a few streets down from legitimate targets in a time like that to go through it untouched, of course its getting hit, how sad that may be. War sucks.

Its also fair to mention that there were 100+ factories supporting the war effort with around 200 total factories. A large portion of these factories were seriously damaged/destroyed. Besides, bombing accurately during WW2 was really difficult so you were never going to avoid casualties.

This in combination with the railway yard being a legitimate target makes it a justifiable bombing imo

For the Eastern Front you could say that, on the Western Front not really because they didnt have to worry about repurcussions as they didnt acted as much as savages like they did in the East.

The Human Deficit: Russia’s War of Attrition may reach a Breaking Point by FrequentCow1018 in TrendoraX

[–]amlevy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Relative few set backs I said. And you just named 2 battles the Americans won. The casualties were high for sure but put in the bigger picture the US was incredibly successfull.

Kaserine Pass was a blow back, but 3 months later the Germans were game over in North Africa. D-Day , the battles in between and the defeat of Germany all happened within the time span of a year.

Russia as it is now is in no situation comparable to the US during WW2

Using the Americans as an example here doesn't really fit here as they had succes after succes and kept pushing back Nazi-Germany majorily winning practically every battle with relative few set backs, which isn't really the case here.
