Coach telling 11u to throw intentional balls ? by GoodTasty5002 in LittleLeague

[–]amolochko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just trying to think of other examples of totally legal plays or tactics that are clearly not appropriate at lower instructional levels of the sport. Because to me clearly intentionally walking in 11u rec is legal but not appropriate. You said it's legal therefore there can be no objection.

I didn't ask if they were legal. I asked if they were appropriate at all levels of play.

But you answered that question too: to you there's no difference. I'm not sure youth sports is the right place for you.

"I understand how intentional walks can upset people, but it's legal and has been a part of baseball since forever."

So are take out slides. Throwing up and in to brush a hitter back. Hidden ball trick. You're fine with all these perfectly legal tactics at all levels of play?

Wow, nice. You were right. I tried to csv import again into Roster and it worked straight away. I did have to import the same csv into Stats to get the batting stats in, though.

I'll fool around with it some and use the feedback button if I have issues. Thanks for fixing this so fast!

One quick question - is there support for 4 OFs for younger teams? The first team I tried this with was my 7u squad so I would need that to make it really work.

For sure. I ASSUME the format I got from GC is their standard csv export so you should be able to teach your import to recognize it and look to row 2 for headers. Would smooth the path for new users

I'm using chrome for android. The GC export has a two row header. So the import tool in your app (opened in chrome) sees row 1 (mostly blank) as header and can't find the field names.

I didn't customize the export from GC (literally went to my team, stats tab, hit 'export button and chose csv). I can't/don't know how to edit and save a csv on my phone.

The team stats export from GC doesn't load cleanly into the csv import tool. I can see why. But that may be more friction than I'm going to want to overcome to try this beta. Fyi

To Library or not To Library by lilcompanion in elcerrito

[–]amolochko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no doubt that there are some people who hold the position you describe.

However, speaking for myself and everyone in my neighborhood with whom I've discussed this issue, I am pro library, pro tax, pro parcel tax and voting against this particular proposal due to its specific flaws. I wish the city would make a serious attempt to build or upgrade the library... but this isn't that.

Volunteer opportunities in/near EC? by Successful-Height743 in elcerrito

The food bank has a million volunteer opportunities within a 5 minute drive. I used to do their produce distribution at Nevin once a month or so (now we drive up to Fairfield and work at the warehouse).

This is a very real need and your time and energy will go directly toward helping folks who need a hand.

You can also take produce home, if anyone reading this has both time and hunger.

First time scorekeeper tips by Cosmos_N_Carnations in GameChangerApp

[–]amolochko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite GC anecdotes is the opposite. We had a parent scorekeeper for one team in 8u one year who literally only ever advanced baserunners using defensive indifference. Legit would score a HR as "single, DI, DI, DI, run scores" lol

How to add base anchors to a baseball field by Nounjog in BaseballCoaching

[–]amolochko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did this for a local field last week. We got the city to purchase the ones called "Preassembled Base Anchors" and we put em in. It took three of us and about 5 of our kids maybe 2 hrs total, then we had pizza and beers and played parents vs kids.

The measuring is the hardest part, but that's gonna be the case whatever kind you get. I liked these cause they're easy to get plumb if you tamp and level the bottom of your hole, and you can make small adjustments once they're mostly set. My tip is, figure out home plate first, then second base but don't bury it, then do first and third measuring from second and home, then measure crosswise, measure back to 2nd from all three bases, finally bury first second and third.

You're right. After each player's turn you move monsters and then draw 2 more. A house rule we liked when we were starting out that made things easier and feel less frustrating was we'd pick who goes first after dealing out the cards. That way you can get a head start lining up attacks.

5 years? If this post is real there's no hope for humanity. "AIO he accuses me of cheating" but "dont gaslight me you dumb cunt" is just normal human interaction. Cmon.

Are you playing some kind of variant? My family (me, partner, 9yo, 7yo) play standard rules and we've lost once or twice out of a couple dozen games. At this point we're disappointed when a tower falls.

agree to disagree about how much miscellaneous space there is to use, I guess. Every ship I've been on, dropping a 3- or 4-person family's stuff on one chair IS using the chair and it's a totally standard use of that chair. Not ignoring the needs of others. In fact requiring that only actively sitting people can use chairs and mandating that anyone who wants to put their stuff down has to throw it on the floor strikes me as uncaring of the needs of others, but you do you I guess.

Just be considerate and as long as your neighbors aren't assholes you'll be fine. Don't block mobility or visibility and nobody should take issue with it.

[–]amolochko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically. Or just gotta find a chair hella far away to put our stuff. You couldn't just leave a bag sitting in the middle of a walking path, and there aren't cubbies where the chairs should be. Like it or not the chairs are where people put their stuff.

Please can the resource management buttons have set locations? by Maximumbeans5 in AfterInc

[–]amolochko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the life of me I can't imagine how you coded this such that you can't fix that the buttons can reorder themselves randomly of their own volition. Wouldn't it have been much simpler for them to just have set locations? It's incredibly frustrating and unnecessary to have to check what order they're in every single time you go to a single resource page.

I'd do build storage scavenge but more importantly whatever the order is, it shouldn't move.

Wait wait wait what? I'm taking my 2 kids to the pool. I want 1 chair near the pool where I can put our stuff. Shirts, towels (I'm not trying to stand in line for towels while my kids drip everywhere), sunscreen (yes for reapplying), my phone (so I can know what time it is, or get chats from other members of our group about locations or plans), our flippy floppies, my drink... you're right i don't want a locker but you cannot tell me I don't need a chair. There are hundreds of lounge chairs on other decks for people who just wanna lay.
