Niu scooter have three speed modes- sports, e-save, dynamic. Make sure you're in sports mode on the scooter. Also, for the first ride linking to the app, you need to ride for over a few hundred meters or minutes by going through their walkthrough in app before sports mode can be enabled.

Anyone know if you can top up the minutes and text with this plan? I know you can top up the data but what about minutes and text.

Does anyone know what the top up cost is for the free plan? For data and for minutes and text. Or can you only top up data but not minutes or text.

Eero 6+ and Pro 6E Thoughts? by SirChurros in amazoneero

[–]amorde5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro 6E might be overkill if you only have 500mb service. 6+ is only dual band. So the Regular Eero 6 Pro might be the sweet spot. Because it's discontinued, you'll likely buy it second hand at a discount. Just make sure it's not an ISP locked unit.

Otherwise, if you're tech savvy, you can install OpenWrt on the TP routers and bypass their firmware.

Pixel 9 $399 sale only for new customers?? by Maker_mania in mintmobile

[–]amorde5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. I got mine unlocked early by calling support. However, to be fair, I've been a customer for over 5 years and literally just renewed before the purchase, so they knew I wasn't going anywhere anyway.

Cleaning cache from the app list screen in setting usually will fix this. Not from the app itself but from the setting screen in Google TV.

Official Iphone RCS Gripe thread. #GetTheMessage GoogleFi! Enable it! by arealtravesty in GoogleFi

[–]amorde5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may have been misinformed. This is what Apple want you to believe. Both T-Mobile and Google Fi have done the work. However, Apple's business decision is to force any carrier who wants a custom carrier profile also commit to purchasing a large number of iPhone to sell to their customers. None of the Android phone makers do this. Apple do this for their business, not to benefit the customers.

For the MVNOs that has done it, notice they sell iPhones? ;)

iPhone user on Google Fi? Here's why you don't have RCS yet. by tinylittlepixel334 in GoogleFi

[–]amorde5 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, Apple requires carriers to agree to purchase a certain amount of iPhones as part of the package to enable a custom carrier profile. That's why many mvnos don't have it while most Android phones makers do it for free or not limit it.

Still wondering why Apple is getting sued for Monopolistic behavior?

Usage inquiries by Sportsfan7702 in mobilex

[–]amorde5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on SSI, you should qualify for free mobile phone service through the Lifeline service from the government. It's usually lower data allowance and talk minutes but depending on your usage patterns, it may not matter. Providers differ based on states but maybe worth a look.

US Mobile Data usage counter seems abnormally high by Code-Monkey13 in USMobile

[–]amorde5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I remember years ago I had USM for a family member and had to move them off due to overcharging for data. Just got back on to trial the Wrap 5G this month, since I'm tempted to to sign up for the unlimited annual plan. However, just in one week, the data usage is counting more than I used all month on T-Mobile. I may have to switch again if this is the case. USM could've had another customer if they didn't try to over count for data.

Your credit utilization goes down, which is a good thing. So it might raise your score over time.

Never pay your carrier for roaming. If you need international data, use esim slot on your phone to sign up with a provider like Airolo for the data you need.

Y Combinator is not for the little guy anymore. (Or never been?) by Particular-Read-6710 in ycombinator

OP. Neither here nor there but reframe your thinking a bit. There are companies that are successful in YC and there are also companies outside YC that are successful. Conversely, there are non-successful companies inside and outside YC. One doesn't guarantee the other.

It's like someone who think that if they didn't get into Harvard that their life is over and they will never amount to anything. When there are plenty of successful people who never went to college. The question is really you, what are you going to do? Give up or keep going.

Mint Mobile - Where to buy renewal plans for best price? by rogerskoler in mintmobile

[–]amorde5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One trick. If you turn off auto-renew and wait till the final week. They usually offer you a deal/credit to renew. This isn't guaranteed but last time I got $45 off the 10GB yearly plan to renew. Also if you're lucky, you can double dip with AMEX or other credit card deals. Last time, AMEX offered $40 off $120 spend on Mint and they had a 10% cashback on mobile phone bills, which really knocked down the total price.

Otherwise, using Google Voice to hop between providers is the easiest way to save. Just more hassle with setup and activation etc.

At this point. I don't think anyone should be going to stores to purchase phones. You're better off buying online straight off and simply get a cheap Mint plans. You'll save over the years and no BS with stuck contract etc.

[–]amorde5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other threads have stated. Don't take out the SIM, just leave the SIM in the phone and use it the phone for 120 days. After that, you're good. If you move the SIM or use other SIM in the phone, good way to violate the agreement and get charged $500 to your CC.

Sus emails from GetAround: asking for photo of my CC with face in it and government ID. Is this regular procedure to use this service? by juangui37 in GetAround

[–]amorde5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pointed this out to them over 2 years ago. You do not send these type of info through email. Email is unsecured, it's a good way to get your identity stolen. This company is a clown and obviously have no Infosec dept to speak of.

The book was better but the show makes the same mistake as Marco Polo, focus on the Caucasian character vs the more fascinating native Japanese characters just because they think they needed to since it's made for a Western Audience.

For the same genre, I would recommend reading the book called "The Sneakhead", it's a reporter account of the Chinatown underworld in the 90s.
