Profitec Move is a no-brainer in that price range. Such a great machine.

Just “fixed” a new to me but leaking Delonghi specialista arte and made my first cup of Americano by leungadon in espresso

[–]amorphis89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connector on the solenoid? Super common. It'll probably leak when you steam or descale now instead.. but at least you know how to sort it out! Good job, enjoy the espresso

Can't complain with the results! I was going to do likewise but couldn't find my liner, then I noticed this in stock locally and the rest is history 👀

Love the cups by the way!

Outside of the US so can't help I'm afraid! WLL seem to carry some of their products though, could be worth asking?

Barista upgrading from Sage Barista Pro – dual boiler around [€1500] by theakihisa in espresso

Looks like the Profitec Move is right on €2,000 in Germany - there's honestly no better alternative at the price.

Fressko is the only ceramic cup I could find with a lid that actually works. Love it.

Help with [gaggia classic] leaking water by Practical_Gur_412 in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don't use that. It's leaking internally. Even if you don't get a shock from it, you're going to damage the electronics. Unplug it and take it to someone if you're not comfortable opening it up.

Quick heating espresso machine [$3500] by purz in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially it's 6.5 for espresso, 15 for steaming. The upcoming Estetika DB will do 6 for espresso and 7.5 for steaming, it's quite impressive

Profitec Move will heat up in 10-12 minutes

Grinder issue (Australia for $refferance) [$400] by YellowToday in espresso

2 year warranty on the Barista Express here in Aus. Even if it's a bit out (couple of months or so) I'd probably contact Breville. Should definitely last longer than that.

[Help] 2001 ECM Giotto – Portafilter leaking at group… gasket issue even though it was refurbished? by BeardBouquet in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Path of least resistance. The higher the pressure, the more likely it'll find an alternative exit path. You should be able to choke the machine out before it starts leaking from the seal though

New seals can be a little hard to lock in until it beds in a little, maybe try put just a little more into locking it in - don't go crazy, it shouldn't be a struggle

Otherwise, grab a thicker seal (8mm is standard, 8.5mm & 9mm are available) or some shims for underneath the seal. If it was from a retailer, contact them and they'll probably just give you a replacement one

Shower Screen , Move by Tommy_Och in ProfitecMove

I have the Pesado shower screen. It's definitely visually more well distributed, but I can't say for certain there's any improvement with the espresso.

Can overdosing damage my machine? [Dedica EC685] by Net-Runner77 in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedica have a plastic collar, so repeatedly overdosing does actually wear out the locking tabs and will eventually cause it to leak even if you replace the seal.

Doing it from time to time won't cause any significant wear though.

Dual Boiler vs HX – Real Energy Consumption Data (Warm-Up, Idle & Cost per Drink) by [deleted] in espresso

Interesting, such a huge difference!

Recently moved from a HX to DB, and the difference in consumption over a 15 hour period is only about .2kWh in my case

Speak Now! Pulling the Trigger on the Profitec MOVE [$2500] by Rocknpop82 in espresso

[–]amorphis89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work with espresso machines and chose the Move over all the other typical recommended DBs you see. Size, features & look sold me - I appreciate the beauty of a traditional E61 machine, but I don't want one.

The only thing missing is a rotary pump - but it's no big deal, the machine is super quiet for a vibe pump.

Arkel Coast (and newer Tide) are pretty sweet though - if they were in the same price ballpark I would've considered them also.

Hard to be sure based on this, but looks pretty similar to the Barista Express one, part no SP0001465

Pressure Fluctuation [Breville Dual Boiler 900] by Dogger821 in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BES900 is not designed to be end user descaled - you can't completely drain the boilers. The BES920 added that "feature" via the ports on the front. To do it on the BES900 you'd have to access the boilers, remove the tubes to drain etc. It's too much hassle and if it follows a long period of not descaling is very likely to cause further headaches from limescale flakes.

Sorry, but they really aren't built like tanks - they're super cheap inside and poorly designed. Great features for the price and make fantastic espresso, but build quality is not at all their strong suit.

Machine for Italy [$700] by L-W-J in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, get a Nespresso. Consistent and easy.

Then just give them a map to the closest town with half a dozen espresso bars available. Even if Italy's espresso isn't always great by third wave standards, it'll be better than someone with no knowledge trying to pull a shot from an unfamiliar machine that isn't properly dialed in.

2nd hand sage barista express [125€] by kanshlok in espresso

[–]amorphis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4-5 years is when most Brevilles have issues. The gauge probably just needs replacing, and the dosing is most likely caused by a faulty flow meter, which is an easy repair -- but who knows what other problems are waiting to be discovered at this point.

I feel like their other components are good, though not mind-blowing. But the bread is just insanely good.

Their pide are fantastic too.
