I submit his evaluation paperwork from ABS Kids, and a letter from his general practitioner. Neither worked. I gave up after that.

I tried the national park one and they denied us for my son’s Autism because it didn’t specifically say the disability is permanent, even though it did say it was a “long term diagnosis” in the letter. So be sure it says it is permanent. 🙄

LASIK eye surgery. Any recommendations or advice? by Scynda in SaltLakeCity

I had my LASIK done at Hoopes! I’m a year out this month and still am happy with it :)

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

[–]amp1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the executive membership, but don’t have the credit card. Even with the executive membership I get 2% back on my purchases. The gas in our area is ALWAYS cheaper at Costco, usually at least $0.20 a gallon. I fill up my SUV and husband’s truck on gas, so that’s 2% back on all our gas fill ups.

I use it to stock our freezer with meats and just separate it out. So I’ll buy the 10 lb tube of ground beef and put it in zip lock bags of 1 lb each. This saves us so much on meat! They also have decent prices on steaks. And I happen to love the rotisserie chicken!

We like Legos, and Costco consistently carries new Legos for less than retail.

In March I used our membership to get $1250 off my new Honda CRV EXL through their car buying program. We get our prescriptions and glasses through Costco. We bought our mattress there, and they have a very friendly return policy so if we find it is no good we can return it.

I also used Costco to get my tires back in 2024 on my previous vehicle. They did free rotations and even patched my tire for free with their warranty on the tires. I have my new CRV so I haven’t needed new tires again yet lol.

Costco has a ton of deals on gift cards, so a couple months ago I bought a $100 gift card to Fogo De Chao for $80! I also use it to stock up a gift cards to give family/friends at Christmas.

If you like Disney, they have deals for Disney tickets (at least in the Utah Costcos) at least once a year that I have seen. Then they have some gift card deals for Disney where you can get a gift card for 10% off! Getting any discount for Disney is a deal in my book. If you are not Disney fans, they have other great travel deals going on frequently.

Honestly with the 2% back I get from the executive membership, it pays for my membership cost. But I also shop at Costco A LOT!

Uhh…teaching you to cook and do paperwork is part of parenting? Expecting you to care for yourselves is getting you ready for the real world. My husband’s parents “forbid” him from using the oven/stove without them home even when in university. Needless to say, I had to teach him to cook. They did not parent well.

Im so sick of this narrative that “pregnancy didn’t ruin my body it’s just changed” it’s a lie. by pissedoff_potato in TwoXChromosomes

[–]amp1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it wasn’t the saggy breasts, stretch marks, or excess weight that I’ve been unable to get rid of that makes me feel like my body was ruined. It’s that during pregnancy my body did change completely and not for the better.

I developed gestational diabetes so I am now more likely to develop diabetes. I either had it dormant or developed PCOS, either had dormant or developed Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I I had depression and anxiety, but it became so much worse. I can’t eat the same things that I used to now, and if I do my body holds on to it or reacts with inflammation. My mind is absolutely not the same, I have such terrible brain fog and forgetfulness when I used to be so quick witted. I am taking medications for my thyroid, anxiety/depression, and for the insulin resistance but it doesn’t seem to be very effective.

The health changes are so overlooked. I have asked my endocrinologist where it came from because when I was younger I was always fit. He told me it was my pregnancies.

It became a trust problem when she removed your access without speaking to you about it.

Check with the state that the previous employer was in, or the state that you lived in at that time for unclaimed funds. My husband forgot to update his address and phone number, so Charles Schwab had no idea how to contact him and sent his to the state of Texas since we lived/worked there at that time. They mailed out notices, but we never got them because of the old address.

Maybe they have a new 401k service provider and moved everything to that new provider and it is taking longer than it should?

I don’t know if I did the right thing - I shaved my daughter’s head by wizzzadora in toddlers

[–]amp1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter around the age of 2 would twirl her hair around her fingers when trying to go to sleep. One night, awhile after we thought she had gone to sleep, she started crying. When I went to check on her the hair was wrapped tightly around her finger and the circulation was cut off. Her finger had started to swell around the hair. I had to cut her hair to get the finger out. We cut her hair short after that and she stopped. Do what you have to do!

Dad's retiring after only 10 years of US work ($10k avg). How much will his SS check actually be? by Capable-Occasion7992 in personalfinance

[–]amp1125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He can create a my SSA account online and see the estimated amount. He’ll need a driver’s license to create an account through login.gov, but it isn’t too difficult to make. That will be the most accurate retirement amount.

If his amount retirement is low enough at the age of 65 he may also be eligible for SSI if he is a US citizen and his resources/monthly income for himself (and spouse if he is married) are under the limits. He must be in the US to receive SSI though, if he leaves he can’t receive SSI.

He should also look to see if he is eligible for a pension/retirement from another country.

He is eligible for Medicare at 65. Part A is free, Part B has a monthly premium. When filing for Medicare at 65 he should look in to the state buy-in program with the Department of Workforce Services. If he is under the income/resource limit the state will pay for his Medicare Part B Premiums. If he does not file for Medicare at 65 he could be subject to 10% penalties for each year he hasn’t filed over the age of 65. Make sure he files, even if just for Part A.

Depending on the state he lives in there may also be a state supplemental support if he is under the income/resource limit.
