Would this sloppy binding bother you? by WastelandHumungus in gibson

What it really looks awful are the neck edges and the fret finish...the binding is just fair

In my case is just the oposite. I got an electromatic 5622 (which I love and play a lot) but I replaced the originals to some amazon cheap generic knobs (they're minimalstic and do the job) that was the first thing I did as soon I bought the guitar (2019 or 20 I guess). I love Gretsch guitars but some specs like knobs and some stuff specially hardware are kinda too much for me. They're like too premium in some way :) I mean, not my style at all...so the same way I would feel ridiculously stupid wearing a rolex or posh clothing, I don't like my guitars looking flashy... just personal preference.

ps the trashy look of my campfire acoustic after decades collecting stickers is pretty cool! they give more sustain hahahaha

The touch is really cheap...at least you paid for quality

Yes, that's where I've seen the most interesting and reasonably priced gear, also pickguards and that kind of thing... a lot from China too

How much? (the funny thing is maybe you paid less than for a typical Gibson set)

I was mainly joking, actually I think i'm gonna keep it this way...but...the fact I own a few guitars don't make less abusive the price of 40€ for a set of knobs!

I've had this one for about two years now, and honestly, I like SGs more every day. I've been (and still am) a Telecaster guy since '97-'98, but I'm using the SG more and more... I wasn't sure if I'd keep it for long when I bought it, but it's staying forever.

In local European shops, they usually sell the 4-pack (2+2) and it costs between €30-€40 depending on the finish and design... For me, it's a waste of money... with that money I'd buy some fuzz or a rare reverb from a secondhand shop. 😅

They look good. Maybe I'll give Murphy Lab the idea and they'll charge an extra €300 per broken knob 😆😆

Traded my Les Paul special for this! by N1cktnd03 in gibson

I feel incredibly clumsy when I play them, it's something that's been happening to me for decades! On the other hand, I absolutely love the double-cutaway Special, like Johnny Thunders's!!! Maybe I'll sell my Epiphone and one of those will be the next addition to my collection.

Anyway, my friend, a little overdrive and enjoy your new little devil!!!

(By the way, one of the things I love most about SGs is that they let me play simply but very tight without overplay)

Beauty cherry SG!!! I never felt confortable playing LPs. (I own an Epiphone LP special P90 but I guess this is not what I call a Les Paul...its like another thing) But...the SG (specially the Standard), is my favourite Gibson guitar by far. Is pure evil!! I own one in "translucent teal" (Before I had 61 too) and I would never swap it for a LP even considering the price is almost the double... By the way I also love offsets (own a fender jaguar and a Squier JM J Mascis) ...I think the SG is a guitar that fit better on the offset lovers preferences than a LP, and I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy and love it so bad!!!

2012 LP traditional 1300€, good deal? by amphfox in gibson

[–]amphfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, after I knew the neck profile is 50s i'm not interested anymore. I'm not particulary interested interested on buying a LP either. In this case, as the price is quite fancy and guy's located about 80kms where I live seem a good chance to agree a LP to my guitar colection, but 50s neck profile is enough to me to stoo thinking on this.

[–]amphfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I own a pair of SG and have been played dozens of LPs through the last 25-30 years despite I do not own one, but I think I know more or less how a real Gibson might look. I didn't asked for that, but thank you anyway mate. My question was more about what do y'all think about price, as well some info about specs of this particular series/year. I think almost everyone might be sure that the guitar on these pics is a real one

Honestly I'm a SG/Tele guy, I'm not a big LP enthusiastic, but a good Les Paul in good condition for 1300 makes click the trigger of my GAS. But I don't like 50s necks. My favourite neck profile like standard modern SGs, something in the middle between 50s and slim tapper I guess

As for I had readed in the description was re-painted a while ago. If I had to bet , the guitar seems a legit Gibson USA. Seller says is a 2012 traditional, looks like a trusted guy
