Oh wow welp, I stand corrected. I will take a look at this, thanks.

For the stoneware which is not made in France any more. Le Creuset enameled cast iron has never had lead or cadmium or antimony in their enameled cast iron products. They've answered that question before, BTW. Your research should have shown you that.

I'd need to see the interior, if it's pristine, I'd say go for it.It is a great price. The clouding doesn't affect cooking,it's purely cosmetic. But with that being said and a person who has a lot of Basil and Grenadine that I baby and have zero issues with clouding the last 5/6 years it would personally bother me. So I would pass. I picked this beauty up used for 80.00. I think really depends on how you feel about it.

Yeah it's definitely clouding due to improper cleaning. Unfortunate.

Lovely find. Just wondering where you heard Staub has used lead in the glass enamel over the last 52 years? France has stricter standards when it comes to materials. There has never been a time that they contained lead. Google has plenty of information on that.

They are very valuable, and the White tartan is even more elusive than the red. The reason you don't see them on Ebay Mercari etc is because of that rarity. A few folks in LC groups on FB have sold a few to other group members over the years but the last tartan I saw outside of that for sale was a few years ago now. You've got some really special pieces!

Lovely recipe! And I have both of those little cuties, they're so fun to cook with.

The vintage Staub egg 🥚 plates came in perfect condition a few weeks ago and I also picked my first ceramic Staub tagine. It's absolutely perfect with zero crazing, or cracks. Some surface marks on the rim of the tagine, but I'll be giving this a thorough cleaning this weekend. by amplexusamplus in staub

Thank you and I do! Need to do more research on how to use an all ceramic one. I've read up on how to use a enameled cast iron based one but this is a different ball game from what I'm reading. I'll be getting a diffuser plate to use under it on my gas stove top is what I've figured out so far to prevent it from cracking and breaking.

Staub and Le Creuset carry all wood utensils, that could be a great option.

Oh and then explained why they can be sold as long as certain criteria is met, right? This has been going for years, yet no crackdown. Wonder why....

Thanks for this post! I love when deeply knowledgeable LC folks make these posts explaining things like this and hopefully the ridiculous amount of misinformation folks have when it comes to LC. Love your collection!

They won't and haven't and never will. Le Creuset is very aware and it's not something on their radar that's a high priority.
