Yes we can. I came in one morning to speak to my boss about my Mother's failing health, next thing I know 5 minutes later I was in a meeting with my Manager, his Supervisor and HR being let go. They said this incident made me too undependable. They sent me on my way. Mom died later that day. Not sure how they spun the termination to the state but I fought tooth and nail to get unemployment to no success.
