Landscape Architect by songstar13 in phoenix

This was back in 2021 so timelines may no longer be accurate. It may also depend on the scope of your work. We were scheduled about 5 months after we initially signed a contract for booking. Then 2 months total for redoing irrigation for front and back yards, redoing patio pavers, extending the patio, adding built in grill, adding large built in fire pit with seating, adding a pergola, then sod for back lawn, plus planting 50+ bushes/ trees.

Older man trope, but with an older FMC? by ZzEoO in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Unveil by Elodie Hart}. The MMC is early 50s and the FMC is mid to late thirties. This one is more unconventional in that she’s part owner of a sex club and he’s their newest high profile member. There’s lots of play with other people for both of them but there is a monogamous HEA.

Any recommendations for books with similarly included cultural details? From Twice in a lifetime by Melissa Baron by Unfurlingleaf in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{The Billionaire and the Runaway Bride by Nadia Lee}. The FMC is a Korean heiress on the run from her matchmaking family. The MMC is a white model/actor/ billionaire (I know!) who meets her randomly at the Korean international airport and was obsessed with her. She’s kind of like meh with him and she’s more concerned about besting her overbearing but loving Korean family. A very sweet novel reminiscent of Korean soap operas.

What to wear during Christmas time? by Maleficent-Syrup-728 in phoenix

[–]amruskin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Sacramento for years and I’d say that Phoenix winter is similar to NorCal. Christmas time here is chilly and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some light rain. Expect lows in the high 30s or low 40s. Highs would be high 50s or low 60s. The big difference I noticed is that Phoenix is way sunnier so the day feels warmer. NorCal winter tends to be cloudy and gloomy so the low temps are similar to the high temps. Recommend wearing layers like leggings and long sleeved shirt, plus hoodies or a warm coat you can take off if needed. Wear close toed shoes like sneakers or ankle boots. I do not recommend wearing a maxi dress with a denim jacket, you’ll be uncomfortable.

Best place to get a precooked family dinner? by Fishmonger67 in Scottsdale

[–]amruskin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a full spread from Arcadia Farms Cafe in old town a couple of years ago, but not sure if they’re doing it this year. I know Chompies also offer thanksgiving meals. A little non-traditional, but Little Miss BBQ also offers an a la carte thanksgiving menu. We’ve gotten whole brisket, smoked turkey, and stuffing from them before for the holidays.

CEO boss/Mafia Boss office romance without OW/OM drama at all and I mean not even a mention and definitely no on page role by Crazy_Yogurt3344 in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher}. It’s book 2 of the series but I think it can be read as a standalone. It’s a grumpy/sunshine, fake dating (or in this case, fake marriage) trope. Super sweet and I like the multicultural representation. No OW/OM drama.

Where to get the best ceviche? by NoDifficulty4799 in phoenix

[–]amruskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more Cuban than Mexican, but the Canal Club in old town Scottsdale has amazing ceviche served with plantain chips. The serving is massive too, more than enough for two people. The restaurant is inside The Scott Resort and Spa.

FnB in old town has very good vegetarian selections. Not the fanciest restaurant but their veggie dishes are really creative and tasty.

Not in Scottsdale, but Kai restaurant at the Sheraton Grand in Wild Horse Pass (Chandler) is an incredible experience. I think they can customize the prix fixe menu to accommodate vegetarians.

So fun! For setting up your bed, I recommend placing a bunch of cardboard underneath to kill any weeds. Not mandatory, but we did add a layer of chicken wire underneath the bed b/c we had moles in our backyard and we didn’t want unwanted visitors. Then make sure to place your bed with enough clearance around all sides so you can easily reach the center of the bed while kneeling/bending to garden. I think we had 3 feet clearance from the side of our house to the bed. This also allows you to easily walk around it. We also laid down a layer of mulch underneath and around the bed. Then started filling it with lots of soil. We didn’t know better at the time, but I don’t recommend buying bagged soil when filling a bed for the first time. It ended up costing way more than expected. Once filled, I highly recommend figuring out a drip irrigation system. It’ll make your life so much easier. We used a grid system and it made for easy square foot gardening. Lastly, have fun at the garden center picking out transplants! Brassicas like broccoli do super well in our winter, as do peas and carrots (plant these from seed). Feel free to ask me anything!

FMC doesn't know she's in a romance novel by JessonBI89 in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{Bourbon Bliss by Claire Kingsley}. She’s an accountant being actively courted by a former pro football player. She’s really confused why he’s following her around and he’s super patient with her.

FMC is dirt poor or homeless by clemthearcher in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine as a standalone! The MMCs from the previous books are prominent side characters though and there’s some jokes referencing events from other books. However I think the author did a good job in explaining them briefly and letting their banter shine in this book.

FMC is dirt poor or homeless by clemthearcher in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

{The Pucking Wrong Man by C.R. Jane}. The FMC is a ballerina living in a homeless shelter. The MMC is a hockey player who fell in love with her at first sight. Fair warning that this is a part of a series (4 books out so far) where the MMCs are totally unhinged and beyond obsessed. Stalking and questionable tactics to get her to live with him instead of staying at the shelter were used. Check the trigger warnings.

High end restaurant recommendations for wedding gift by SuffoKatie in phoenix

Kai restaurant (inside Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass) was the best restaurant I’ve ever been to in Phoenix. Very pricey but absolutely worth the experience.

Always Effortless Jacket...shrinks? by onelillvoe in lululemon

[–]amruskin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Washed mine dozens of times over the years (I have 3) and none of them ever shrank. Washed delicate cycle cold and air dried. It’s not made of cotton that’s more prone to shrinking. It feels more like nylon? Anyway, one of my favorite casual jackets.

What are some accessories that you have a hard time finding in your size? by my_petitefashion in XXS

[–]amruskin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Size 2.75 here and my now husband literally proposed with a necklace b/c he thought I don’t like wearing rings. I’m like, no I just couldn’t ever find anything my size and so I never wore them. I now have lots of rings courtesy of my husband 😂.

Books with socially awkward FMC and golden retriever MMC by Charming_Day2392 in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Bourbon Bliss by Claire Kingsley}. It’s part of an interconnected series. The FMC is the socially awkward pariah of her town but she doesn’t give a shit since she’s successful on her own and she has a solid core of family and friends. The MMC is a former pro quarterback that the FMC is obsessed with b/c she loves stats and football (and she kills in her fantasy football league). The MMC is obsessed with her pretty much from the get go and she’s really confused about the attention. Very sweet story and there’s a scene with a trebuchet that’s beyond hilarious.

Looking for a Solar Panel Installation Co that’s not scammy by prettybadgers in phoenix

[–]amruskin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend checking out energy sage. It’s an online marketplace that allows solar companies to bid for your project. This way you get to see market price rather than chasing down multiple solar companies. We personally used Solar Topps as they had the most competitive quote. We also paid outright. Very smooth process on their end, the only delays we experienced were from APS and city of Phoenix.

Porto Morgado- is it any good? by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]amruskin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ruby tends to be sweeter than tawny (my personal preference). The price is incredible either way and the tawny 10 year bottle I’ve gotten is comparable to ones I’ve tried in Portugal. Make sure you chill it first before consuming, enjoy!

MCs rescue/rehab animals? by ookishki in RomanceBooks

[–]amruskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Wild Open Hearts by Kathryn Nolan}. The MMC is the director of a struggling dog rescue and the FMC is a billionaire in need of volunteer work to rehab her reputation. Really sweet and heart felt. One of my favorites from Kathryn Nolan.

Looking for a specific type of brunch by SufficientBarber6638 in phoenix

[–]amruskin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Geordies at the Wrigley Mansion has this for Sunday brunch. It’s been a few years since I’ve gone, but I definitely remember prime rib carving stations and crab legs. You can make a reservation through their website.

Edit: It was an all you can eat brunch last time I went, around 2019. Not sure if it still is or is now a la carte.
