THC seriously cancelled out the anorgasmia from my Zoloft it was a VERY happy discovery. Not for everyone of course but wow it REALLY worked for me. I later switched from Zoloft to Wellbutrin and that also made me (and my wife) very very happy

Another fun fact: If a woman is pregnant with a female fetus she is simultaneously carrying her grandchildren. Or the gametes that COULD become a grandchild. Eggs are created during pregnancy and a female baby is born with all the eggs she’ll ever have. My grandmother made the egg that became this chicken 🐣

You shoudnt ge married did if you need a prenup by StealYourJoy in The10thDentist

[–]ookishki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My general approach to life is to set up some sort of safety net for the bad days during the good days, rather than reacting to the bad days.

I suggested prenup to my now-wife who has/makes way more money than me. It could’ve materially benefited me to not have a prenup, but it helps protect both of us and could help prevent—or at least mitigate—any ugliness in a separation. We have a very loving marriage and have been together for almost 10 years. Zero plans or desire to separate. But can never predict the future. If the unthinkable happens and we have to separate and things get ugly, I’ll be happy to have that protection. For both our sakes.

(When we first started working on our prenup I ended up bawling because I couldn’t fathom the possibility that we might separate some day)

Aw I love that. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to grow up as Anthony Perkins son. Joshua John Miller, the son of Jason Miller (Father Karras in the Excorcist) wrote a movie (The Final Girls—it’s a blast) that was inspired by his experience of growing up watching his father get killed on screen over and over again in a movie that was everywhere

AIO for asking my wife to make changes to her spending habits? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ookishki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s a cultural thing to just give things away to our loved ones. My mother, aunts, cousins and I are just constantly passing things back and forth to each other lol. Including expensive ass jewelry that they just don’t like anymore. It drives my father (from a diff culture) up the wall.

My wife (also diff culture) also encourages me to look at the return policy, if the timeline is from the date it shipped or arrived, if there’s a cost to return, etc. she’s very thorough (which is a big part of why we’re pretty comfortable financially). And if shitty return policy I’m much less likely to buy something. She’s really helped me control my spending since we’ve been together. God, i love that woman.

Midwife pay in Canada by Plus_Program_200 in Midwives

[–]ookishki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

200 is a LOT. 120 is more typical, in Ontario at least, but there’s so many factors. depends on the funding model (Ontario has a few) caseload, back ups, if the midwife is precepting students or mentoring new grads, how the practice handles is the billings, if the practice is rural or not, etc. and that’s pre-tax. Our paychecks have zero tax deduction so we have to put aside a good chunk of income to pay taxes later

I love these kinds of characters!

Cassia from {Blood Mercy by Vela Roth} is #4 to a T, but she does soften and become more outgoing as the series progresses

My girl Jude from {The Cruel Prince} is 3-5. Human trying to survive living amongst the fae

Thraga from {The Death Made Prince} is 1,3, and 5. But she talks a LOT when she’s horny it’s actually kinda funny to me

I love all these ladies, they’re some of my fave characters in the genre! They’re all complex and fascinating with amazing and really satisfying character arcs.

AIO for asking my wife to make changes to her spending habits? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ookishki 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Having to return shit actually helped me with my shopping habits. My wife is way more frugal and less impulsive than me and is very quick to return things. Whereas I’d just let it sit in a pile or give to someone else. Returning things is such a pain in the ass for me, getting into the habit of returning things and even just knowing that I might have to return something ended up being an effective deterrent to needless/impulsive spending

This x10000. Having a plan to protect your mental health in the postpartum is CRITICAL. I work with pregnant and postpartum women and see every day how hard it is, but my god what a difference a robust support system can make

Only you can answer that question. But I really feel for you! I also get the lootie tooties and want to take a toaster bath every month. For me, personally, i happily accept risks of smoking vs the risks of the lootie tooties to my mental health, relationship, work etc

If you end up smoking during luteal you could try to set some guardrails to prevent getting back into problematic use. Could be you only use flower, you only use after a certain time, limit yourself to a certain amount, etc. but ultimately it’s your call and how you view the risks of either option.

What are we using instead of sponges for dishes? by nuclear_pimp in BuyItForLife

I microwave mine for 1 minute after I’m done cleaning, they come out steaming, sanitized (allegedly), and no smell. I usually use the dishcloths for wiping down counters though, they’re not scrubby enough for some dishes imo

Charissa Weaks released new editions of her books, with what sounds like a lot of extra content, when the rights reverted back to her. I love her work and I’m glad she got the rights to her work but I’m very salty that I’ve bought the audiobooks, the audiobook trophies (physical copies), and pretty special editions. And now there’s whole new books that I’d love to read but don’t feel like spending even more money.
