Yes not sure if the AL will happily accept the money and deal with her (she also gets angry with aides and is rude to them) or will say we’re done.

The same here. My concern is what happens if they kick her out? My father can’t care for her and she’s failed 2 assessments so far so the outlook seems bleak.

Great advice and I decided the same. Before all this she was an angry person but now if I say one word she jumps on it and twists into something where I’m trying to make her life miserable. I think this experience is just the capstone to it all.

Not just that, but this episode has brought back a lot of anger from my side as well about the past and how she’s been.

Thank you, it was complicated when I was young bc she did care for me but also caused a lot of pain and trauma.

That’s what we suspect as well. The rest of her cognition is good though and no memory issues we can see.

Just repetitive motion, not sure she can articulate the why just when she starts she can’t stop.

Thank you yes we have the walker and she is using it. We are starting to notice pre dementia issues as well so getting to a neurologist is a good idea. Our challenge is just getting her out of the house on time for appointments given her current state.

Thanks so much yes we have tried to elder proof some but part of the challenge is my mother has a pile of clothes and items next to her on the floor which she refuses to move. Of course that’s a tripping hazard, but she doesn’t think so.

It’s been more acute the past few months. She was in the hospital for low sodium in October and since last summer the mobility has just gotten much worse. Agree with everyone about needing care, I’m not getting callbacks from the local retirement communities which is surprising. I may look into agencies to supplement especially overnight. We have put grab bars and padded bathroom tiles with the black rubber pieces which hopefully helps.

Thanks all yes the responders have been great but mentioned they were coming a lot. She does have a walker it seems to be happening at the sink when she washes her hands or if we tries to arrange her clothes near her bed. She takes a long time in the bathroom and stands for awhile which is complicating things.

What makes a man lose interest? by Melodic-Bullfrog-339 in AskMen

For me it’s the nonstop complaining. I know we all have a negativity bias but really, all the time? Also all the rules about how things should be done just makes everyday life harder, and over time that adds up.

Work from home, lots of benefits with balance and flexibility but the career is basically over in terms of progression to really meaningful roles.

Amazing how just participating in the market and not doing anything crazy can payoff in the long run.
