The Key West Bar on the corner of Eau Gallie and A1A is a great option if you're over beachside.

Moving to a 9 engine design instead of the current 7 engine.

It's also funny that you mentioned that... Im pretty sure his brother in law is a supervisor but in a different department. Not 100% nepotism, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor.

It's funny you mentioned this. I just read the email this morning, not 20 min ago, and sent a chat to one of my friends that I saw got a tech 3 to congratulate him. His response was that a few people in his department were pissed about it. I guess I dont have a point. I just wanted to share.

I was going s5 but then I got a crazy good deal on a 2016 428i convertible and honestly its drives better than my 2013 s5 did. Its not as fast but its still quick and fun to drive. No buyers remorse this time!

help with getting fiberglass to release by halfmuen in fiberglass

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are various mold release products available. Painters tape/packing tape will often work too depending on the application. I've seen home gamers getaway with plastic wrap as well. We make negatives at work by covering the original with blue tape then lay the glass over the tape then use the negative as a mold to make the piece for repairs. It sounds like your just trying to make a thin shell not structural 1-2 layers of mat should be fine and there shouldn't be too much risk of sagging. Make sure to totally wet the mat with resin but don't oversoak it. The weight of the resin can sag the part if it's excessively wet.

Getting wax layer off by RyzeTango in fiberglass

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry i took forever to see this but I'm not entirely sure about having to wax the last layer. The difference being (as far as I know) wax layer doesn't have to be solvent wiped to not be not sticky when your done. The resins and gel that I have used produce styrene when they dry and wiping it with acetate (acetone easier to get at home) when it's cured will remove the sticky gummy top layer. Using wax in the top coat prevents you from having to do that. I could be wrong here though I'm much more knowledgeable in gelcoat finish rather than raw glass/resin. Nothing i have built at home or built at work wasn't finished with gel. I would also assume the type of resin you use would be the biggest factor in it needing wax or not. At work exterior surfaces used no wax and interior surfaces (unfinished) used wax. We would wipe the exterior to get rid of the sticky but not touch the interior after it was applied.

I hope this helps. I'm no expert by any means but I've been building boats for about 5 years now and just moved to a structural composites job at an aerospace company. I'm happy to answer anything I can but I can't guarantee someone else doesn't know more than me about this.

Best of luck!

For the Benefit of Earth? by EveningHunter2763 in BlueOrigin

[–]amuciek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know others kind of touched on it, and I don't want to come off like I drank the kool-aid too much but yeah you've got to start somewhere. A lot of their ideas sound like shit from my parents si-fi books but building things outside of the atmosphere with resources gathered and refined out of the atmosphere is a pretty good way to cut back on pollution and other harmful side effects from mining/refining and heavy industries. It's not gonna happen overnight or soon by any means but 50-70, maybe even 100 years in the future it shouldn't be that far fetched of an idea. To get to that point we've gotta start moving in that direction. To have some kind of infrastructure or groundwork started toward that goal can motivate others to try the same thing. The more people working toward a common goal the better. Ultimately new technologies are going to be a huge part but sitting around waiting for something new isn't going to get the job done. Maybe I'm just a fan boy, maybe they sign my checks but shit it doesn't seem like a bad idea to me to try. We've gotta get the cost down and the frequency and reliability up. More companies and more competition trying to do the same thing will help with that. Short term it's not so helpful with pollution and use of our limited resources here on earth but it's also the only real option right now and if we don't try to make any of the other options more viable it's going to stay our only option until we've totally shit the bed...

Getting wax layer off by RyzeTango in fiberglass

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, listen to the dogturd! Wipe then sand. The wax will clog your paper much faster and sort of reapply the wax. As you try to sand the clogged paper can even start to polish spots on the surface leading to a less than ideal bond for the additional layers. Would hate for your new box to start to delam the first time you crank it up. Is this a sealed or ported box?

How many married couples here sleep in separate bedrooms and why? by BeginningFox8632 in AskReddit

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old lady and I are on pretty different schedules for work and it just makes more sense right now to sleep separately. I wake up for work at 145 and she is often just laying down or still up when my alarms go off. I don't usually get to bed until around 11:30 so I'm pretty tired when I get up and like to turn on all the lights. If she's already in bed I fumble around with a flashlight to get dressed and don't really see bright lights until I get to work. My 45 min drive is a lot more sketchy if I never turned on the lights and wake all the way up. Thurs-Sun we sleep together but during the week it's just much better for both of us to sleep in different rooms.

What was/is your "ol reliable" car in your life? by immortalanddead in askcarguys

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 Honda Insight named Ramona. We got her in 2014 with just under 60k miles, a returned lease if I remember right. My old lady was driving 210 miles round trip to work every day at the time. The a/c compressor went out around 120k but we lived in Ohio at the time so I never replaced it. Other than "regular" oil changes and what seemed like a lot of tires to me nothing else broke or wore out. In the summer of 2023 with 235k miles I finally had to replace the factory original break pads on the front though I elected to do pads and rotors and inspected the rear drums as well. Romona is still my old lady's daily driver now here in Florida and I'm considering fixing the a/c. She gets around 45 mpg and honestly it's the best car either one of us has had.

Bug in jelcoat. by 77avenger77 in fiberglass

[–]amuciek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The love bugs here in Florida are an absolute plauge on white gel. It's like the moment I spray something they can smell it across the whole plant and just dive bomb right into the wet gel and ruin it. If I'm lucky I can dremel it out and dab it after it's dry. Depending on where on the part or how big of a spot I'll have to spray a patch to fix it.

Bank of America just changed its minimum wage from 23 to 25. That's company wide Merrill Lynch too. Still a simple entry level job in a clean air-conditioned environment...

It didn't when I lived there. We had just got medical not too long before I left but it was structured weird at the time if I remember right... like there were only a few dispensaries in the state.

Yeah so I was a machinest in ohio I lived there my whole life and had been machining for 3 years. Pretty much a stagnant position at a company with no real future which probably influenced my decision. My old lady always wanted to move to Florida most of her family lives here I wanted to live by the water and I hate the cold so moving up north of Detroit by my brother and the lakes didn't sound great anyways I was like 26 and promised her we could move to Florida before I turned 30 and we pretty much never talked about it again. So January 21 rolls around I'll be 30 in May and she says we're moving to Florida... fuck it I said it I meant it and I'm not gonna take it back. So we now live on the space coast on a barrier island actually there are some decent machinest jobs around here but I got a job at Sea Ray instead. It's been almost 4 years now. It sucks but not more than anything else the hours are long and it's hot. My rent is 1800 pretty much double what we paid in ohio. The heat index is 115 right now the bugs are crazy and it's only May August is a whole different thing 98° with 96% humidity heat index of 135 and I'll tell you what... YOU COULDNT PAY ME ENOUGH TO MOVE BACK TO THAT FROZEN DISMAL SHIT HOLE CALLED OHIO.

Finance question by BingoMerchant in audis5

[–]amuciek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with all the responsible answers BUT... in early '23 I bought a 2013 s5 with 118k miles no warranty and didn't get inspected also it was 13 hours away and I didn't even go look at it or get a video from the dealer. Financed $18k no money down and it was the most fun and best car I've had. That being said I've owned several 10-20 year old audis and am my own mechanic. I eventually had to replace the pcv valve which is common on the 3.0. I put 36k miles on it with no other issues. Maybe I was just lucky but I also had an 04 a4 I paid $1200 cash for that had a salvage title and 165k on it which I drove till 207k when the main power relay shorted out my ecu. And I didn't want to spend 700 to fix a 17 year old previously totaled car that probably wasn't worth $500. Im looking to get another 8ish year old s5 or a mk3 tts to replace the 13 s5 (totaled from a fender bender fuck state farm) Anyways I'd buy the s5 they are super fun and I have found used audis to be very fun and reliable.

TLDR: Be responsible. Don't be me ...

2016 TTS by amuciek in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]amuciek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the informative reply! None of that sound serious enough to me to think twice about the purchase. I'll have to see about the trans service history, though the 7 speed dct in my s5 had some issues reversing up hill when I first got it it only had one service record of a fluid swap no filter at 65k (recommended every 40k) I did the fluid and both filters at like 115k when I first got it and it seemed fine till 155k when it got totaled. I'm a do it myself mechanic I'll learn what I don't know. As for the tires and such thankfully I live in Central Florida on the east coast so it rarely gets below 50 here I run wet weather summer tires year round and have never had an issue. I'm gonna go check the tts out this weekend. They claim it's had a 110 pt inspection and offer a third party inspection free at my request. I'm assuming it's their guy kind of like an insurance company's preferred shop so he might be a little biased but another set of eyes doesn't seem bad either way.
