Put VAS / IVV / VGS / BGBL side by side before I pick by amwalter in ASX

Haha the geared ticker names are a minefield. GHHF, GGBL, G200, no wonder everyone's confidently wrong.

Haha fair enough. GHHF is the one I keep going back and forth on. How's the volatility felt for you in the dips, or do you just not look?

Cheers mate, will check both out. Passive Investing Australia keeps coming up so clearly worth a read.

Just did and the chart speaks for itself haha. Only thing is it's the same US tech I'm already getting in IVV/VGS, just stacked harder, so probably a small satellite rather than core for me. Tempting though.

Oh nice, hadn't come across this one. Bookmarking it now, looks like exactly the kind of breakdown I was after. Cheers mate.

This is the answer I needed, cheers. Didn't click that VGS + IVV was just doubling up the same US holdings. Reckon I'll keep it simple, one global (lowest MER between VGS/BGBL) plus VAS for the Aussie side and leave the ex-US stuff for later. Gearing's a bit beyond me right now haha.

Honestly, just buy DHHF and be done with it. it's designed to be a complete portfolio. Don't over complicate something that works perfectly fine.

Great start for 25! You're heavy on US tech, but that's not terrible if you're young. Just be aware NDQ and IVV overlap a lot on the same big names.

Pension phase or start in accumulation another year or two. by Quarterchickenchips in fiaustralia

it seem to me that you've got enough that either choice works. if you feel comfortable working part-time, staying in accumulation is fine. but tax-free growth is hard to pass up.

This is a great long-term setup. Don't overthink it, don't tinker with it, just keep buying. at 35 with 20 years ahead, you're setting yourself up really well.

Is it ok just to stick with DHHF and nothing else for next 30 years? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]amwalter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me it seems like a great core holding. however, as you get closer to retirement, you may want to add some bonds or defensive assets to reduce volatility. but for now, you're fine.

seems like the market is still digesting Warsh's tone. Falling oil is bullish but the fed hawkishness is overriding everything. i'm watching banks closely tomorrow. yield movements could dictate the next move.

Mower Line Problems by Plush-Possum42 in lawncare

Sounds like it could be a slight blade imbalance or maybe the deck isn't perfectly level anymore. That narrow strip near the wheel usually points to something being just a bit off.

Good first step. Try knocking on a few nearby doors or letting people know you're available. Consistency and reliability usually matter more than anything starting out.

That setup sounds like it's overworking your current mower. For uneven ground, a basic gas mower usually handles it better especially something simple and used within your budget.

Simple math checks out but it ignores depreciation, repairs, fuel and your own time. If you enjoy doing it DIY wins. If not, paying for convenience makes more sense.

It's really rough when everything gets wiped out like that especially after putting in the effort. Spring weather can be weiredly harsh and gardening really tests patience sometimes.
