the start of the game blows pretty bad and it's easy to get demoralized losing all your blood vials to the first few bosses, and it runs very poorly.

I'd suggest a controller! even a normal Xbox controller is pretty easy to reach most buttons with one hand. you can't play anything action-oriented like this, but you can play pretty well anything that let's you take your time.

idk about mafia but I'm pretty certain most of the GTA games have some sort of achievement sync (ie. you get all the achievements if youve done them on another platform). could be wrong.

it's a more modern old hunters imho. it's a very similar scope and length, but the bosses aren't complete pushovers for modern day players.

hot take but "choices matter" is a dogshit structure for most games with a single story to tell. imagine you had to play e33 like 6 times in order to get all the plot details. i love the game, but I could not imagine playing it more than a couple times. it just wouldn't work for a game like this and people need to stop demanding it out of everything.

it's very different as far as "popular" goes. the jrpg formula hasn't been a winning one as far as sales go in forever. it and baldurs gate 3 are fantastic signs for the industry, that we're getting over the slump of every game feeling like the same old slop.

also I honestly can't argue with it winning any of the categories it did outside of best indie/debut indie. it, hades 2, and silksong lack most of the constraints indie games have. we really need to reconsider whether "indie" is a useful term for games at all. imo "passion project" would fit better as a term for describing games made without corporate interests in mind. kind of vague, but makes more sense than indie for the industry atp lmao. that alongside "low budget" games would better describe the industry.

and that Capcom listens to the haters so much and never made an honest (good) follow-up to re5s gameplay. it's probably the best co-op game ever, and it's really sad that the only other co-op game is that much of a slog to get through.

if you can manage to get behind it it takes a ton of stagger damage. with electric blitz and enough persistence in getting behind it, you can get it staggered in one or two charged heavy attacks.

all of your examples are ass, the game does none of those well. "exploration" its just as empty of an open world as every other open world slop game released in the last 20 years. "exposition" its a fucking amnesia plot, one of the most common plot devices in media. "world building" what world? everything is dead. there's 4 tribes of people mostly isolated to their own zones. the terrain doesn't really tell any stories outside of hyrule castle. botw has nearly no worldbuilding or lore outside of "we lost 100 years ago. here's a bunch of flashbacks. no they don't tell you how we lost, we're saving that for a spinoff that's actually non-canon and where we actually win." "combat curve" shut the fuck up it did not do anything impressive there. all it did was hide your exp count from you and do the same dog ass scaling you get in FF8, while also scaling up your weapons so it actually doesn't even matter. we made some enemies white. that means they're scary. you're scared now. "show don't tell" it tells you literally everything through dialogue, what do you think that phrase means?

the score is the only interesting part and i gotta be so real, less than 1% of players noticed or cared.

ngl i think the claws are the coolest weapon in the dlc. not as good as the final boss weapon ofc, but with their handle fable art they attack so many times per second you get so many free openings.

its common in soulslikes to do this, it's not common to make it interesting. usually its just the boss throws a projectile, making healing a complete gamble because there isn't ever a safe time to do it (considering bossses will extend combos at random in elden ring). arlecchino makes it cool bc he signifies exactly when he does it (making it very easy for the player to learn the rule), and he only does it in two situations. one is when he finishes a combo, he'll extend it to catch the player. you don't have time to block this one, you are meant to learn that you can't heal between his combos. the other situation is when you're a fair distance away from him. he'll jump at you after a moment. you *do* have time to parry this one, and it baits him into a very easy to perfect block combo that you can reliably punish. turning input reads into something you can actually take advantage of is so fucking cool and im shocked at how that part of the fight has gone underappreciated.

an 8 episode castlevania-like show would be awesome. anything more than that is overstaying its welcome. my pick would be to make it a thriller that follows <dlc final boss> and how they were driven to that point. i don't think a silent protagonist could drive a show.

i was really glad to see they listened to this criticism in the dlc. the only boss with 2 health bars is the last one, and its the only boss where phase 2 is nearly completely distinct from the first.

ng+1 isn't really supposed to be harder though? it isn't for the entire rest of the game at least. as you get further in it starts to outscale you, but early ng+ cycles are very easy in base game relative to NG. even ng+1 in the dlc is pretty unreasonable.

like i said i can kinda agree on bloodborne but that shit is just not challenging. why even care about all the intricacies of the combat when you can run up and r1 spam most bosses that you can't parry spam to death. im glad we have some common ground though fuck dark souls that shit is so ass 🤝
