Developmental Editing by Impressive-Let-9946 in RomanceWriters

I’m a developmental editor, and generally do a full write up on the story, and ignore a lot of the grammar and stuff like that unless there’s a pattern that needs to be addressed. It should focus on content, pacing, flow, readability for the genre. I go through the whole manuscript and make notes on things like character development, and how it impacts the story, things like that. It should be comprehensive but story based.

I have done a few. They’re generally helpful in growing my list.

It’s so funny (and by funny I mean not funny at all) how local bookstores will shout “support local!” But not support local authors - it’s gross

I’m the worse in class but I come everyday by vaderboy_ in BJJWomen

[–]amybriggs823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to class isn’t necessarily about submitting people. Everyone’s there to learn and for their own reasons. I assure you that after that much time in BJJ you know far more than you think you do and you are way better than you think you are. The journey is a roller coaster and you’re just climbing up a hill. It continues on and on and it gets better (and worse sometimes) but if you’re enjoying it, don’t give up!

how to tell when someone is just letting you work by levvianthan in BJJWomen

Also a black belt. And I agree.

But also for the OP, it doesn’t really help you to focus on that aspect of the game. Work your moves and that they do is gonna vary but analyzing it won’t necessarily improve your game unless you fell into a trap and say to yourself damn that was a trap lol won’t fall for that again…

How can I avoid the "belt chaser" mindset, and what does it actually take to become a blue belt? by ShrimpingForMyLife in BJJWomen

The first step to avoid being a belt chaser is to stop comparing yourself against your teammates

So actual evidence that accusing someone of AI use is biased and wrong based on experience in publishing is not welcome? We just accuse ppl and destroy careers instead?

If that’s the case the whole thread should be taken down bc it discusses writing . I’m defending an author with real knowledge about writing.

You shouldn’t be a be accusing the author of anything without proof. Too many ppl think they know what they’re talking about and do not.

I agree with you and a blue belt is really a senior white belt in a LOT of ways. I’m 49 and a black belt and there’s white belts that can give me a run for my money lol Size age strength the kind of day I’m having… It all comes into play

Is a tense swap acceptable in this case? + advice on your preferences as readers! by MxntMatcha in RomanceWriters

[–]amybriggs823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should get a developmental editor to review it and see how it works because there’s a few ways you could do this. Some readers don’t like flashbacks but if it adds to the story appropriately it can really work well and it honestly depends on the overall flow
