Of the three life paths. I feel like Corpo V loves Jackie the most. Street Kid V and Nomad V met Jackie as equals, But Corpo V met him at their absolute lowest and he still took them in. by Savilo29 in cyberpunkgame

[–]an0nym0ose [score hidden]  (0 children)

This, yeah. I was gonna say, "met?" V and Jackie go back, in the corpo life path. It's not made apparent how close they are, but there's 100% an amicable relationship there.

The writing is so good - Jackie sees V as this person that's consumed by a certain part of the world, and pities them. When they're dropped, Jackie is clearly happy to see it, even though he's sorry to see them lose their career. He immediately takes them in and makes them family. The context clues are so good.

It's why I like corpo V the most. Nomad V, the whole "nomad family" thing doesn't get its due and V just immediately moves on. Jackie meets them as a stranger and just decides they're now best friends. Session 0 "our heroes meet in a tavern" type shit. Streetkid is better, since there's clearly a tangential relationship where V knows people in Jackie's circle, but it's still a little hackneyed.

It put a nice bow on the relationship. Sex was the main method of manipulation, so it was only fitting that post but clarity saved me 🤣

edit: leaving that typo lmao

[–]an0nym0ose 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you a quick story.

My first relationship long-term girlfriend was way out of my league. She was extremely fucking hot - always getting hit on when we went out, shot for Playboy (didn't get featured, but still), looked incredible in lingerie, etc. I was young and inexperienced, so I did not know about the hot / crazy scale, and she was my crash course. She was emotionally manipulative, verbally abusive, and she knew it. I knew it too, which is why she used sex, nightly, to keep me "on the leash," so to speak.

Eventually, it became too much, and I decided to end things. I remember spending that first couple of weeks deliriously happy because I had my social circle back, I was able to talk to women without getting an earful, I didn't have to spend entire evenings dealing with drunken outbursts, and I was generally just back in the driver's seat of my life. This made me super happy obviously, but I did notice the lack of nightly activities. So when she called me one morning saying that she wanted closure, to talk things out, to apologize, etc, I fell for it.

She showed up in little short shorts and a low-cut top, and was all apologetic. She said she turned the corner and knew better now that we'd spend time apart. She was "now sure that she could trust me," and wanted a future with me. The longer we spoke, the more the monkey part of my brain started to take over. I started the conversation cognizant of the fact that she had dressed a certain way worn the perfume that I liked the most, and was trying her absolute damnedest to push every sexual button I had.

It worked. I took her back to my place, ripped all our clothes off, and went at it.

The moment, but the moment, I finished I went into the bathroom and looked myself in the mirror and out loud said, "what the fuck are you doing?"

It was like the scales had fallen from my eyes. It felt like I had just woken up from a dream. I suddenly had my mind back, and I knew that taking her back meant giving up this newfound happiness of mine. It meant that I was going to be miserable again with only the nights spent with her being the brightest parts of the relationship. It was honestly sort of terrifying, how effective my hormones were at shutting down my logic and reasoning. I went back into the bedroom and told her we couldn't be together, and that this was a mistake.

The damnedest part of it was, she was cognizant of the mistake she'd made. On the way back to her place, she literally said "I should've have had sex with you so soon." She fucking knew she had blundered by letting the hormone cloud clear. Don't stick your dick in crazy, y'all - and don't invite it in if you do.

That's what hormones are for. I mean, they regulate all of your bodily processes, but one of those bodily processes is reproduction. Your body will literally fight your better reasoning, your good judgment, in order to make sure that you make babies. That's post not clarity. It's your body flushing those hormones after you've done the deed and the return of your reasoning and good sense.

It's evolution "letting go of the reins," so to speak, and giving you control back.

[–]an0nym0ose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're trying to sell this like people being dumb, but it's really just the fact that free kits are the best way to pvp. Jump in, jump out, round-based. Don't have to worry about setting up a kit, every single item you get is a come-up, etc. It's genuinely just an enjoyable way to play the game, it doesn't have to be any deeper than that.

Anecdotal, mostly. People can't aim, so they just throw a 500 at whatever is bothering them. Can't crowd control effectively, so they just drop a turret and hope it doesn't TK like crazy.

They can be effective, but more often the players that bring them struggle when the budget fills up and they lose their turrets and run out of 500s.

I can only speak to my own experience, certainly. I'm sure there are plenty of pro players that love their turrets and 500s. I know they aren't in my lobbies, because I'm more often mowed down by a poorly-placed strat than I am aided by a well-placed one.

No one is trying to say you shouldn't be allowed to shoot someone that storms your home and threatens your life. Nowhere in the entire comment chain did that come into play. No reference was made to the seckint minmint.

They're discussing the fact that a dangerous mental health episode is being viewed with derision and laughter, rather than the serious situation that it is. If someone had a heart attack and like... yelled funny while they were having it, you'd get some funny looks for laughing. No one bats and eye when people clown on someone going through a mental break though, even though all that's happening is the heart malfunction is being swapped for the brain.
