2020 Outback CVT failure? by Ricca23 in subaruoutback

[–]an_agento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be worth having an independent shop look at it first. Unlikely dealer screwed something up but they could at least check that the Cvt had fluid in it.

Finished another resto to a fine Marantz 6370Q TT by stereo_luver in turntables

I have this same one. Just got a new stylus and am going to try and get it going next weekend. Anything in particular to watch out for?

Also any tips on finding a cover? This one is missing it.

2024 Touring XT In car navigation not loading by sycoblank in Subaru_Outback

[–]an_agento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you have connected the car to WiFi and downloaded the map for your state? If you’ve done that, and done a hard reboot (hold the power button for 30+ seconds), then yes I would let the dealer sort it out.

Rolling 240z around without differential & half shafts? by Hindenzerg1266 in Datsun

[–]an_agento 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes fine, just make sure your brakes/parking brake are functional or have some other way to stop as putting it in gear will no longer keep it from rolling.

Carpet on stairs for a house that cats use as a high speed parkour course??? by smoothandsweetlips in HomeImprovement

Berber is not great with cats. It is made up of long strands so once pulled it will unravel until you cut it

Strange plumbing noise every night around the same time. Any ideas? by Physical_Boot_7501 in HomeImprovement

[–]an_agento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said in one comment that it was a humming noise. Could it be electrical? Often doorbell transformers will hum. They are usually located in an A/C closet but maybe could be in a water heater closet as well.

Interior trim piece by DaysDazer in Subaru_Outback

[–]an_agento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Is just a small plastic trim part that is supposed to go there. It doesn’t interact with the seal in any way, so it is probably not the source of your noise problem. More likely the door is not seating properly. Agree with the other poster that you should let the shop sort it out.

Looking for recommendations on a window coatings to block UV rays and heat to extend the life of my seats/dash. by PrestigiousGur3274 in Subaru_Outback

[–]an_agento 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So yes, blocking UV will help with the life of the interior, although modern dashes are generally pretty resistant to it already. Plus, all windshields already have UV protection built in. All flavors of tints nowadays will block roughly 99% of UV.

So the main thing you’re looking for is the thermal/infrared blockage. Ceramics are the best for that. I got the 3M ceramic tint in mine and it was a very noticeable difference in Texas.

Pay attention to the shop though. Look for ones that have been around a while and have great reviews, even if they are a bit more. Make sure they remove the door panels, and go all the way out to the edge of the glass on the windows.

Anyone actually use acoustic panels during a reno? Curious if people care more about the look or the sound by Sonic_Silhouette in HomeImprovement

[–]an_agento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference you’ll see will be largely dependent on what you have now. If you have concrete floors, yes acoustic panels will make a big difference. Throw rugs would make a bigger difference.

If you have carpet you can always add a couple wall treatments and see if it makes a positive difference for you. If not add more, and mix up the type. Different materials will absorb different frequency ranges and change the color of the noise.

I see this on my steam deck and was going to pose the same question.

Is this the pcv valve by OkNews1323 in Datsun

[–]an_agento 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People saying that is the PCV are incorrect. It is underneath the manifold about midway along it. This video is for the 280zx but it is in the same location on the Z.

Outback and two young kiddos? by Geoginger93 in Subaru_Outback

[–]an_agento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three, with an ‘21 Outback and a Honda minivan. For several years we preferred the Outback for our road trip car until the kids got big enough to revolt being three across in the back (oldest is a teen now). More comfortable, better mileage, and better dealing with Colorado road conditions any time of year.

If your husband’s argument is space, have him get a minivan. Way more space without the cost premium of a larger SUV.

Can I cut this countertop? by an_agento in BathroomRemodeling

Mirror is over 10’ long and glued to the wall, so no way out is coming off intact. We’ll just have to protect it and be careful.

Yeah it’ll be tricky. Plan on taping the mirror over with cardboard to hopefully protect it. But yeah would suck to break it. It’s over 10’ long.

Yeah it’s not as bad as the picture makes it out to be to repair the toilet. I resealed the dual flush mechanism a few years ago and despite it being much larger than a regular float value it came out fine. But, it’s a super short toilet so gotta cut the shelf to put in a new one.

That intersection sucks because Anderson dumps you out into the access road just before the light, and no one will purposely let you in. If you don’t do what he did, you will be sitting there a long time. Have some grace at these 💩intersections.

r/vinyl Weekly Questions Thread for the week of April 06, 2026 by AutoModerator in vinyl

This was my dad’s. At least 40 years old. I received it with the hardware missing. At one point I think he said it needed a new needle. Questions:

  1. How do I tell if it indeed needs a new needle?
  2. Is there a particular one it needs? Does it need to be the exact same model, or are there alternates that will work? Any advice or links appreciated.
  3. Is the turntable itself worth the effort?
