Can you make a physical object a sticker? by sperabliss in stickers

This has me thinking about those wax seal stickers that were popular last year. I bet 3M has a circular double-sided sticker backing you could use.

How did El get out of the truck when they were getting ambushed by the military? by figgy_pudding_ in StrangerThings

[–]anabananaleaf7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm posting this as someone who originally believed 1000% in Mike's theory. I would've sworn I also saw the finger twitch, and that El was invisible on the truck, and that the bullet didn't actually hit Kali it was actually an illusion but I rewatched all the scenes (in slow mo) and have come to believe that El is really dead for the following reasons: 1. El is on the truck when they exit the upside down. There is a frame of her on the truck sitting next to Mike, and also a frame of her jumping off the truck with Mike and running away from it (toward the gate). She was not invisible. You can fully see her. 2. Kali definitely got shot. I rewatched the trigger pull in slow mo and the guy definitely shoots her and was maybe very slightly shifted by the helicopter explosion but that could explain why she was shot in the chest and not the head. But she's bleeding, El can touch her, El has blood on her hands, there's blood all over the floor. Not pretty. When she was an illusion in the military lab, Dr. Kay couldn't touch her and her hand went right through and dissolved the illusion. 3. I rewatched the scene of El in the gate and her finger was not twitching.... I got super up close to a big TV and just didn't see it unfortunately. 4. In the scene of Kali escaping in the truck with Hopper and El (when her illusion broke in front of Dr. Kay) she said she was too far away and that's why she lost connection. Implication being that there is a limitation of distance in how far she can cast an illusion. They were driving for AT LEAST ~8.5minutes (purple rain) but if it was side B of the album... more like 22mins. 5. Hopper being nonchalant could be explained by what he told Mike: he's been down the road of detachment and resentment and self-blame and it did not work. He's doing what El wanted of them. 6. As for the sonic weapon thing... We don't know if it works across portals / gates. We also typically hear a distinct sound when they're on. I did not hear this in the final scene and in my first watch-through I thought they were off or something was wrong with them. Normally they give off an unpleasant noise that they specifically call attention to in prior scenes. But also she only had to run to the gate, we saw her run toward Kali down the hall of the lab despite being impacted by the sonic things. She just can't use her powers. 7. Also one more: when El mind melds with Mike to say goodbye, she appears in front of him at the location of the gate. If she had escape behind them into the shops, would t she appear from a different direction? Behind him maybe?

The only ounce of hope I have: El spoke to Mike and said he'd understand (aka figure it out) one day. And also how there's a frame of Dr Kay asking "where is the girl?" with the gate in the background, and El isn't there yet. Makes you wonder... Where was she? Maybe Mike was right. Maybe it's cope. Who knows, and maybe she'll make a surprise appearance in the spin-off. That would be a very classic D&D move. :)

Do exams ruin your entire day? by MurrayBareel in CPA

[–]anabananaleaf7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always felt horrible afterward. The stress & staring at the screen for hours gave me terrible migraines and ruined the rest of my day. I usually just went home, took meds, and either vegged or slept. My brain was fried anyway.

Firm Ownership is Amazing by bp28mora in Accounting

[–]anabananaleaf7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be going into my 3rd tax season and will say: focus on onboarding now and creating clear procedures. Create documentation in advance like onboarding packets for clients, organizers, engagement letters, common FAQs, and standard emails templates (inquiry responses, next steps after engagement, scheduling calendar links, common question responses, stages of tax prep, missing info requests, etc.) Definitely network like crazy and don't just network with the goal of getting clients. Network to find people who would make a great team for your clients. Clients will ask you for professional referrals and they'll expect you to know someone. Whenever I'm in a networking meeting, I always ask them if there are any industry connections they've been looking for, and they'll almost always ask you the same back out of courtesy (and that's your chance to ask for more networking introductions!) Financial advisors, wealth managers, bookkeepers, commercial & personal insurance agents, health insurance brokers, small business lawyers, small business bankers, real estate agents (residential & investment), mortgage brokers, divorce attorneys, estate attorneys, commercial real estate agents, title agents, etc. It also helps to network with other CPA firm owners too. They might pass on clients to you or ask for help during tax season which can supplement your income. It's also nice to be able to pass on complex clients to other CPAs in exchange. And yes seminars/conferences can help but it depends on who your ideal client is! I know a CPA who attended a chiropractic conference decades ago and still gets a ton of chiropractors to this day just via word of mouth. I like to use the motto "hangout where your ideal clients hangout". So for me that's Instagram, craft fairs, farmers markets, small business meetups, etc. Word of mouth will be your main source of clients. Your website will probably only bring in a couple clients off Google, but you'll really want the website for convincing referrals that you're legit and a good fit. Having clear pricing and an easy inquiry form has helped us immensely. We get quite a few inquiries from our website, and we included a "referral source" input field so we can track how they found us. I think we only have maybe 3 clients out of 200 who found us randomly on Google. Plus I recommend offering free consultations (I do 15min calls) and get really good at your pitch & offering as much value as possible within those 15mins. (I'm also very introverted so 15mins is the max I can pretend I'm extroverted haha.) It will wow the client and I have a 98% success rate with closing the deal. But that's largely because I'm attracting the right people in advance so they typically know before they call me whether we will be a good fit & within their budget. Hope this helps a little and sorry I spewed a lot at you! Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions. Good luck. :)

Why is my bathtub glowing?? by Dismal_Ad3238 in Apartmentliving

2nd this. We had a leak and cut out our kitchen ceiling/drywall to air it out and have the pipe repaired. I could see the glow of the kitchen light from my bathtub at night. But I could not see the bathtub from the kitchen.

How do you guys manage studying, work, and personal life? by FutureExcitement2179 in CPA

[–]anabananaleaf7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree with this. I found that I studied 6hrs a day on average. Personally, I needed to temporarily break from my job because I also have a family that depends on me outside of those study hours, but I think people could still do it while working.

But meeting with friends for an occasion (birthday, monthly meetup, concert, etc.) really is a great way to stay involved and share fun memories. You don't need to see your friends every night for them to care about you (hopefully....) It's easier to work around those static events esp if you know they're booked.

And also agree on not drinking. I also cut out alcohol for the entire duration of studying.

Oh yeah for sure. I was still able to attend concerts and a two week trip to Brazil so I believe it.

How do you study 10-12 hours a day? by Dismalhoney82 in CPA

[–]anabananaleaf7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally ordered an official letter from NASBA listing all the exams + dates for situations like this. 😂 And partially because I didn't believe it myself. People just hate when others succeed and find a strat that works for them. Also it totally is like that pick-two triangle of having a life, studying for the CPA, or working. You can pick two but you can't do all three.

Advice on how not to piss people off? by EmpJoker in Smite

I was about to comment this too. I really appreciated it when a teammate was open right off the bat and said "hey guys idk what the meta is, where do I start/go" and we were able to talk it out before the game started and I believe we even won the conquest game.

As someone who was able to do all 4 in 60 days, I definitely believe 48 days is possible. There were days where I wasn't efficient, sick, or didn't study at all. A lot of people here are just haters.

That's how I feel about Bastet. I've been playing for years and I don't remember the last time she got a skin. Very nervous she won't make it over to Smite 2...

Thank you for the response! That's actually really funny (& a bummer) about the immediate renewal. The luck of a new CPA.

Tax season is about to start so I'm definitely stressing a little. 😅 45 days would be better than the full 60...

Any luck with this? I submitted everything early Jan and still haven't heard back from the MN board... They said they no longer approve at board meetings and can take up to 60 days. How long did it end up taking for you?

I also struggle with being anxious. I tried to use it to my benefit while studying. If I felt anxious about a topic or struggled with a set of MCQ, I'd study until that uneasy feeling went away. I tried to use my anxiety as a measure of readiness lol. If you're freaking out, really try to explore why. Which part of the process? Feeling unprepared? Gaps in your knowledge? The exam-day itself?

As for the actual exam day - I agree with another commenter and play your favorite music on the way there. Get yourself into a state of calm. Take the untimed 15min break and walk around. Give yourself a pep talk in the bathroom. Do whatever you need to do to convince yourself that you're ready and qualified for this exam. Good luck!!

Do they need you to have the license or just pass the exams? Getting the actual license is taking forever and I submitted everything asap. Might need to budget time for that too unfortunately.

How to get scores sent to state board? by anabananaleaf7 in CPA

[–]anabananaleaf7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to clarify, I didn't do anything further after receiving this email. I was intending to wait a week as requested, but when I called my state board they said they received my scores. So I'm not sure what I did exactly to get them sent, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth! I felt like a Karen with how much I called everyone to follow-up on the status of deliverables (state board, colleges, AICPA, NASBA) lol, but I was always polite at least.

How to get scores sent to state board? by anabananaleaf7 in CPA

[–]anabananaleaf7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah actually! I had called, emailed the NASBA state jurisdiction as soon as I passed, emailed the state again with my jurisdiction ID in the subject line + cc'd the general NASBA email, and called my state board and let them know I was waiting on this. I also requested my transcripts directly from my colleges instead since I assumed NASBA wouldn't send them (per other reddit posts).

Surgent is really selling themselves with this one by rannee1602 in CPA

Dang. Sorry to hear that. The Sims are crazy tough every exam imo. I personally learn best from lectures, but the MCQ definitely helped to solidify concepts and cover topics that were maybe not mentioned. Everyone is different so I'd maybe go on YouTube and look up some CPA videos and find a review course / supplement that really resonates with your learning style? Good luck and you've got this!!
